If we had one elite guy at getting in the paint, he'd be so much better. He's so creative with his passes, but he can't get in the lane against a stacked D. He needs to catch it off the kick and then go to work. He can shoot so the D has to run out. He can either fire the 3 or get in the lane and do some things then.A couple of things that jumped out to me in that video:
JJJ changed his number to 30 and maybe we are getting the return of the fun Vescovi with his fancy passes that he did his Freshman year. I think that's when he's at his best, when he probing around inside and getting others involved. Obviously he's a good three point shooter as well.
The way Rick talks about him seems to be that Santi is clearly ahead of the other two PGs (Chandler and Zakai). As we saw last year, Rick doesn't feel pressured to start them from the first game, and honestly might prefer them coming off the bench to start the year. Either way, it is nice to have options, and no doubt that Chandler is more talented than Santi. We honestly have like 6 options that could realistically play point at times this year, but I imagine (and from what Rick said), the top two options are Santi and Chandler.Vescovi is a great shooter but Chandler's handles are on another level compared to him. Excited for our players to play their best positions. Also Nkamhoua looks good but he is probably the JG of practice as we hear every year.
Probably best case scenario! Starting freshman always worries me and it seems like Vescovi improved after playing for Uruguay in the summerThe way Rick talks about him seems to be that Santi is clearly ahead of the other two PGs (Chandler and Zakai). War room summary…
Vescovi has been great, he would be getting the start over Powell currently alongside Chandler and James. The bigger surprise is that ORN would currently also be getting the start alongside Fulk rather than BHH. Staff absolutely loves Zeigler, he’s an absolute pest and doesn’t back down at all, also an elite shooter.

-VQThe current team got practice officially underway this week and it’s pretty clear that Barnes likes his team. Surprisingly, at least to me, based on how the staff charts everything in practice and workouts Santiago Vescovi has been the most efficient player on the team over the last month in workouts.
I had personally penciled in Justin Powell to start on one wing opposite Josiah-Jordan James, as of now that wouldn’t be the case. Also, surprising to me, if the season were to start today Olivier Nkamhoua would start alongside John Fulkerson in the post.
The staff love what they’ve got in Zakai Zeigler. He’s an absolute pest and doesn’t back down at all from Kennedy Chandler. Zeigler has also one of the better shooters on the team since his arrival.
