Team News (current roster)

Tamba is nowhere near 7 ft.

Nope. I thought the same thing when I saw that picture a few days ago. I think he's listed at 6-11, and I'd day he's 6-9, at best. At least judging by that picture. He appears to be at least an inch shorter than BHH (side by side), and BHH is listed at 6-10.

Tamba does look to have some good weight on him, though.

Don't let the hair fool you. LOL.

Point being, Tamba, despite being listed an inch taller than BHH, is in no way taller, and if anything, is an inch shorter. He isn’t 6-11.

I think they are about the same height, and I believe Aidoo is about the same as well. You have to imagine where BHH's and Aidoo's heads are. But, a team roster being off an inch or two is nothing new.

Or maybe he’s not standing straight up, or maybe BHH is on his tip toes, or maybe BHH is taller than 6’10”? I recall folks trying to claim off 1 picture that Aidoo was maybe 6’9”, and was shorter than BHH, this shows that’s false as well.

Right…not sure why we’re splitting hairs over 1 picture that the guy doesn’t appear to be standing straight up in and there’s still minimal difference.

It's just a point of discussion. My guess is that Tamba is closer to 6-9 than 6-11. No one is making a mountain out of a molehill, here. And sure posture may play a very small role, but it's interesting to me that Tamba is listed as the taller player when the picture would indicate they are the same height, at best.

The real question is how tall is ZZZ? Can CRB’s penchant to switch on screens allow ZZZ to play significant minutes?

He's little. Listed at 5-9, I think. Reminds me a lot of Erving Walker that played at Florida 10 years, or so, ago.

ZZZ will have to prove to be a real disruptive pest on defense to overcome his lack of size. And provide an offensive lift to ever become a starting pg getting lots of minutes. I am rooting for him.

But, Tamba hasn’t been placed in the new state-of-the-art stretching machine. At that point, he WILL BE officially 6’11”.
OK, I'm 20 years old, done knocked up my future ex-wife, so I get my first "real" job at a print shop. First day, one of the pressmen yells at me and tells me to get a paper stretcher from another pressman. I look at him like he he is crazy, I'm young and naive, but come on, that doesn't make sense. But, he says hurry and get it, before this run gets ruined, so I do it and everybody in the press room laughs their a$$ off.

As for the current team the buzz has been pretty consistent; the staff likes this squad, likes their effort, likes their attitude, likes their chemistry on and off the court.

Late arriving freshman Zakai Zeigler continues to draw rave reviews for how hard he plays and how quickly he has adjusted without the benefit of being here this summer.

We’ve written this here before but we’re hearing it so often and with such conviction that we think it bears repeating; we continue to hear that freshman Handje Tamba is among the hardest workers that have come through the program during Barnes’ tenure.

The one glaringly apparent thing about this team after just over a week of practice is that playing time is going to be a precious commodity. Barnes has been reluctant have a regular rotation of more than eight or certainly nine guys so it seems likely there are going to be some talented players that are going to have a tough time getting on the floor.

I think Zeigler & Tamba are 2 guys down the road this fan base is really going to love…they’ll be 4-5 year players that seemingly will bust their a$$, reminds me of guys that would’ve been on that Grant, Sch, Kyle, Fulk squads.
Add Mashack to those two and we will be very pleased with their UT careers when all is said and done.

Recent history has shown the portal has reduced the number of 4-5 year players who will work and wait on playing time. Maybe these 2 are the exceptions although ZZZ sounds closer to seeing the floor atm.
