With all the negativity going on we need something a bit more positive to look at. So in this topic we assume one thing is true, Tennessee makes the NCAA tournament.

Who is the one team you would absolutely hate to play, and who is the one team you would love to see us up against.

For me, I would want to play North Carolina in the top 25 right now. I think they were over ranked to start the year and I think they still are. I think physically we would dominate them.

The team I would absolutely hate to see us against is St. John's. Hardy is playing lights out. He's had twelve games this year scoring 20+ points in the Big East, and they are simply clicking at the right time. I can see the Red Storm making a sweet sixteen or even elite eight with a favorable bracket, and I don't think we match up with them well at all, especially in the post.

I would hate to play anyone we are favored to beat. It seems like when we are favored, we mail it in and end up losing. I would like to see us play Michigan State, get a little pay back.

north carolina would beat the white dogcrap out of us !!they go 6'10, 6'9' and 7'0 along the front. thye have a point guard that is very good and can play 10 men and get away with it. i would hate to play them. i guess if i had to choose someone to play, it would be----- uh oh, can't think of any.

I would hope that we would get BYU. They have a team of shooters, but aren't real athletic and we could confuse them with our half court offense and get them to playing gutter ball with us. We also could be much more physical than they are.

what half court offense ? all i ever see is goins dribbling around the perimeter. ferdette would get 38 on us.

I would love for us to be in the 8/9 game in the region with Ohio State being the #1 seed. An opportunity to put out Thad Matta and that punk Aaron Craft would be great. Would that not be one hell of a storyline after all this crap finally came out.

Living here in Louisville and watching the Cards play often, I would not wanna match up with them (loyalties aside). Due to injuries, they have played and developed a lot of players this year. They play as a team (weird concept, I know) and play hard. Could make a run...

BYU would probably destroy us. They handled SDSU twice and they are maybe the most athletic team in the country.

Avoid teams with good zone defenses, with physical/quick inside players, with a good one-on-one perimeter defender, or with good away-from-home records. Get an opponent with 2 of those 4 traits, and it would be highly problematic.

Oh, yeah, and avoid evenly ranked (within 1) opponents :)

Pearl's Tourney Record @ Tennessee
Overall: 8-5
Record vs. Evenly Ranked: 1-3
Record vs. Lower Ranked: 6-1
Record vs. Higher Ranked: 1-1

ODU... They are a nightmare to prepare for.... They are big (4 of 5 starters are 6'5 or bigger) ,be just as physical as any team Tenn played this year and they have a good coach and play in an under-rated conference.

Not necessarily. Their talent is top-heavy (like ours) and they lost to UCLA (a team even more frustrating to watch with their wasted talent than ours) this year, lost by double digits to an athletic-oriented team like Kansas State last year, and lost badly to Texas A&M the tourney before (another athletic, but occasionally shot-deficient, team). They should be favorites, but I'd say we'd have a 1-in-3 shot to beat them.

Tennessee and Kentucky are two teams that no one would want to see come tourney time. Tennessee is night and day. You have no clue, home or road, what team you are going to face. Could be a top 10 team, might be a bottom 200 team. Very dangerous.

Kentucky is up to this point unstoppable at home and on neutral courts. We have unmatched fan support on neutral court games. No road games for us in the tourney. Almost home games. Very dangerous.

Unmatched compared to the rest of the SEC. However, there are quite a few other programs that have large contingents of fans that travel: UNC, KU, and Louisville come to mind immediately.

Seeing that the Final Four is in Texas, I would dread having to face either KU or Texas in the Final Four, if I were a UK fan.
