Tebow or Crompton

Put it this way David Pollack at the NFL combine did it 25 times. Shawne Merriman did it 25 times. These are DL/LB that were going into the draft in 2005. This kid is comming straight out of high school. I cant believe he is that strong...
I wouldn't put too much stock into Pollack doing it... David Greene was in the room, too.

We all know about the Davids.

I understand that but these guys are doing it 25-30 times. If they did one rep they could probably bench closer to 375-400. But the are doing multiple reps in a row. 225lbs 28 times is very impressive!

I guess 28 times would be pretty tough. What was Tee Martin able to put up? If I recall correctly, he held the UT record with something absurd. And Tebow is a beast. That was obvious from the UT game. I am a bit worried about him.

This is why I was even more upset about losing to Florida this past Saturday. Meyer's offense will only get better. Let's hope we keep up.

All we needed was like 75-100 rushing yards on the game, and we would have dominated the Gators. Fret not, 'Zona. I can guarantee you if the running game does not jump start itself soon, the coaching staff will see to it that it does.

Do you really think so?

I really don't unless he modifies it greatly. I don't think you run Tebow 15-20 times per game plus the abuse he'll get from pass rushers and expect him to perform. He's big but not that big... and he isn't any faster than the avg SEC LB. That was the difference for Meyer at Utah. His QB could outrun all of the LB's and most of the DB's he face in the Mountain West... The SEC plays slight better D than the MWC.

Further, Wynn has finally shown up but he's a senior. They don't have a good returning back. For whatever reason, Meyer hasn't seemed to have had much success recruiting RB's at UF. Finally, UF will lose at least two of their best WR's and Caldwell could come out early as well.

New QB, new WR's, new (no) RB,... and a system that hasn't proven that it can work against elite SEC defenses- it doesn't sound better to me.

As much as I hate to say it, they probably have to replace Frogg before the running game gets any better. Everyone in the conference now knows that if you cover him with a good DT, you can re-establish the LOS 2 yards deep and take away UT's running game.

Maybe he can do better than he did against UF... but they drove him into the backfield consistently.

You are right. Eventhough its a great UT story with the walk on playing we need somone to step up. I dont see us running the ball that great until someone steps up. My feeling is that its pretty bad when the only person that steps up and plays is a walk-on.

Assuming the passing game maintains a good rate (which I believe it will), all we needed against Florida, and all we will need against Georgia and LSU is a viable running game. Three yards and a cloud of dust would even be acceptable.

I'm convinced with Ainge and Cutcliffe doin' the passing game, we could pick apart any secondary in the SEC. We just need to be able to effectively sit on a lead.

LSU and Auburn have great defenses. The 7-3 score wasn't a product of bad offenses. We need to have very strong running games to compete with them.

Well before we can get a very strong running game, we need to have a running game. I feel that is what we really need to work on these next two weeks. If we can rush for 100-120 yds a game vs UGA and LSU and our passing game stays the way it is or gets better we should have a good chance of beating them.... But like I said we need to establish a running game in the next two weeks!

Well, it seems like the Vol Nation is infected with some Tebow fan boys. In case you guys forgot, Mr. Universe already plays for Florida.

Tebow will be solid in Urban's system, and I definitely look forward to his reign at Florida, but how can UT fans be pessimistic about Crompton? David Cutcliffe (who's absence certainly hurt the QB spot the last couple years) will certainly make a good QB out of Crompton, and I suspect Ainge will finish the season with very good numbers. He's one of the better QB's in the nation, but when you have a game with running woes (-11 or so yards), it makes it tough on ANY passer. WAY to early to write this season off.

But back to Crompton...he'll be just fine when he takes over.

Now we just need to find a DT that can SAY NO TO DRUGS!!!

lol
