Tebow: "Talent never won anything. Hard work does."

Tebow will make a boatload of money from the image driven NFL. Book it.

Uf's quaterbacks don't have a strong resume to back up your theory. He might could transition to another position, but i don't see him as the next coming of steve young like some tried to compare him too last year. Thats a pretty far reach if you ask me.

I agree about UF's Qb's. He isn't any less talented than Vince Young, but then he really hasn't panned out either. What's going to hurt him is having played in the spread during his college career.

I don't think it matters. He knows he won't make a nfl squad as a qb. Vince wasn't a qb either. He's got the size to play a couple different positions in the pros. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play pro football at all, by his own choice.

Aren’t they trying to address that this year by putting him under center more?

I heard that, but i don't see it. He hasn't played from under center his entire career at UF. If they do experiment with it look for it to happen when they're playing a directional school.

I was just reading yeasterday that Meyer said he will run some plays from under center but they are predominantly running plays. He said he has no intention of running plays with Tebow under center just to improve his NFL draft stock.

Of course that could be total BS...

Like I said, time will tell. If there is one guy I wouldn't count out it would be him.

If hard work trumps talent, why isn't the winner of Army v. Navy in the BCS title game every year?

You know, its obvious that talentless teams can't win, but it is equally obvious that you can have plenty of talent and not win if you don't work hard and prepare, see e.g. Tennessee circa 2005.

All Tebow is saying is that he and the Gators aren't resting on their laurels and realize that as much as they have around them they are going to have to hit the weights and run and be at practice at 5 in the morning and watch film and do all those other things that it takes to transform talent into actual W's.

Work ethic is important, no matter how inately good you might be.

But then again you knew that was exactly what he was saying. And you actually agree with it. See e.g. every post you ever made about Fulmer and the lack of work and desire that permeated UT for the last five years.

Even tho I hate him as a football player I have a ton of respect for Tim Tebow the person...He is a fine young man with a big heart and a good head on his shoulders...But on the football field, I hope Berry hits him so hard he loses his virginity lol

The ball still has to bounce a certain way. Even with all the work and talent in the world. You have to get a few breaks in the course of a season.

Oh, without question.

Tell you what, looking back on it, that 2006 Gator team may have been the luckiest team I've ever seen, week in week out. They were good -- turns out perhaps very underrated defensively -- but there were a good half dozen or more plays that could easily have gone the other way and derailed that season, completely.

Thats one of if not the main reason you don't see many back to back champs. The ball just doesn't bounce the right way that often. What happens if tee martin doesn't sail that ball over the receiver's head in 99 at arkansas and he catches it? We play for another title that year. Its a oval shaped ball that bounces funny sometimes.

One of many reasons I do not wager on football.

But got to hand it to a guy in his shoes, with a Heisman, two national championships, and all the fame thrown his way, he gets up every morning and emails everyone to get their butts moving, spends every day working on passing drills with his WRs, and goes to the gym to add even more muscle.

What's so special about this? This is what he's supposed to be doing.

At his level, never.

Eh, you could make a case against that with any number of inordinately gifted athletes that let immaturity throw away any and all opportunities because of a total lack of work ethic.

The Spikes hit reminds me of that movie where the coach wants to see SNOT BUBBLES!!! I'm quite sure there were some on Moreno. lol

The movie escapes me. Was that "The Program" ?

This is pointless. Every SEC school outside of Vandy is what you make of it. You can be wildly successful going to one, but the vast majority of graduates work 9 to 5 jobs and never make six digits. This is different from say, oh idk... UVA, UCLA, Berkley, or Michigan. Just going to Florida really gives you no advantage over going to Mississippi State.
