Ted Nugent For Mitt Romney: Rocker Stumps For GOP Candidate At NRA Convention

Even one person who would vote for Romney because Nugent endorses him is too many. I'm not saying that candidates should turn down celebrity endorsements, but any intelligent voter wouldn't give a crap.

In the case of Nugent my point is that overall his endorsement likely does more harm than good.

I don't know,I guess I can admit he might rally the base a little and perhaps be good entertainment at a campaign stop and maybe generate some contributions. Doubt we'll see him on any tv spots, though, after about May 15. They'll want to keep him under wraps, imo.

Same with Oprah. Maybe she can drive a little enthusiasm for the base and get out the vote stuff, but I just don;t think she changes anyone's mind on who to vote for.

Yet you don't take issue with my point. Interesting.

btw, I think the same thing of some of Obama's celebrity supporters. No one is going to voe for Obama because Oprah endorses him. She gets him some free publicity, but also serves as a foil for the right to bash him as too black.

I do take issue with it. Best chances are that this has zero impact.

Next likelihood is that it helps Mitt slightly because the only folks that pay attention to Nugent are probably hard right wingers who've been mild on Romney - maybe this and the NRA puts them more enthusiastically on his side.

I can't imagine fence sitters and Independents are going to even pay attention to one story where Ted Nugent endorses Romney. He's simply not on their radar. No effect with this group.

Admit I had not thought of that. Good point.

It's like Alec Baldwin endorsing Obama - even though he's a doucher that has made outrageous political statements it probably wouldn't affect an Independent vote.

I don't think these type endorsements have any real impact.

Hell, even the Bill Maher endorsement and cash for Obama probably will help Obama more than hurt - even after he doubled down on Ann Romney and managed to imply motherhood really isn't a tough job.

We need a "rolling my eyes" icon for statements like that.

The Romney campaign has sooooo overplayed that comment. Heck, Ann had admitted they just jumped on it and took advantage Her offense to the comment was completely feigned and manufactured.

Not saying they didn't overplay it but Maher doubled down on the comments. I guarantee the Obama adm wishes he hadn't said what he said.

My larger point is that it doesn't matter because Maher is essentially meaningless as an endorsement as is Nugent.

Be serious, LG: Is this the first presidential race you've ever paid attention to? Statements like this indicate that either you are new to the process, or you're so absurdly homeristic that you're incapable of even the slightest amount of objectivity.

Oh, the Dems do it, too.

In fact, as I've said here elsewhere, we are going to see more and more manufactured controversy as time wears on, from both sides.

God forbid we talk about the issues.

It is the issue in this thread. Controversial person with minor appeal endorses a candidate - what's the impact and why.

Hope he has a good interview with the Secret Service.

Can probably give them some tips on the best whorehouses to visit.

Maybe, but more like a friendly reminder that we're still in a constant state of declared war.

I took it as throwing as much crap in the argument as possible. The author managed to work all sorts of things into the piece (including race of course) to make his case which tells me his case is weak. Surprised he didn't play on the kids angle too.

I'm sure the SS will do what they need to do here. If this rises to real threat then he'll suffer the consequences and rightly so.

Good grief. Is it really worth the time and resources to investigate whether or not a rock star from the 70s is planning on assassinating the president?

HDNet is going to show a concert of his sometime soon. They run a promotional interview of him between programs where he talks like he's some great, classic American musician so 8 reds will watch. No dude, you're a hick in Realtree who says mother*****er every other word, and that's it.
