I can't really see that Vince is any better than Tee.Plus he is leaving a year early. My main concern is will he make it as the Titan qb one day?

I think you're on to something. Young is a better runner, but a QB doesn't make his living with his legs in the NFL.

vick took the falcons to the NFC championship with his legs, thats father then 90% of the qb's in the nfl get.

A whole bunch of guys have led teams to NFC title games. Eric Kramer comes to mind. Chris Chandler led the Falcons to the Super Bowl. Vick is a media creation. He's good for a few highlight reel runs, but there are 15-20 better QBs in the NFL.

Yep. Michael Vick is a great quarterback for those individuals that think it's important to show up on the ESPN highlight reel. However, the year before last, he ranked 38th in the NFL (that's right, below backup quarterbacks) in yards passing per game played. Even many of the media guys are now starting to catch on to the fact that Vick sucks.

I was talking to my Texas friend and he knows Vince has his hands full and realizes he has a ways to go. He is not sure he will ever be anything like Steve McNair or if he will even be a good qb one day.

I made a similar stement a while back and got laughed off the board. I just can't see Young doing all that well - Mcnair was great till he started getting hurt; gotta figure the same fate will fall on Young.

I don't think Young will ever be great.

If Young had the oline and TE Frank Wycheck....also Eddie George, which he IMO was an average rb, however George also had that oline and 1 of the best blocking FB's in Lorenzo Neal, which not only made George look great but he that running game cause the defenses to respect the run threat. If Young had a similar offense he might do very well, but with what he'll have in the next few seasons I'd say he could very well have the worst QB rating in the NFL but challenge for team leading rusher at the same time.

I thought this was a Tee Martin/Vince Young comparison. :dunno:
It is, Im just attempting to show why I think Young has disadvantages that McNair didnt have to face in Nashville in response to hat's post. However to get back to the subject I think Tee is as much underatted as Young is overratted.

I don't think they are really all that similar. Tee Martin was a mobile QB with a big arm, Vince Young is a great runner with a suspect arm. They really played two different styles.

Michael Vick has the foot speed to seperate from most NFL defenders. Vince Young could do the same in college, but he is not fast enough to do that in the NFL.

I think that number is even larger

Vince Young's performance in the Rose Bowl against USC and against all the Big XII competition has made him wildly overrated in my opinion. With the exception of very, VERY rare instances (Steve Young, Michael Vick) I don't even believe in such a thing as a "dual threat" quarterback in the NFL. There are QB's fast enough to scoot and gain a little bit of yardage, but for the most part, NFL defenses are simply too fast for a guy like Vince Young to be an effective dual threat. That leaves him with this question: How well can he pass? We've all heard the Uncle Rico jokes, his throwing technique might be passable in high school. And the system he ran at Texas with Mack Brown doesn't even come close to what the NFL will be like. At Texas he'd line up shotgun a vast majority of the time, make one, maybe two reads, a simple short pass and if that wasn't there, he could tuck it and run because he was fast enough to in college. Not in the NFL. Not to mention he's not very bright. Norm Chow is going to have to create a highly simplified playbook. That won't last in the bigs, other teams will figure it out and create simple defensive schemes in order to stop the Titans.

To me , when the Chicago Bears shut Vick down, although freezing, it proved to me any running qb was would suffer the same fate.If the Titans think Young can run and be another McNair, no way.Steve McNair has intangibles, one being his great arm, second his will to win at all cost, hurt or not.Thats why I think the Titans screwed him over,(and still are). They sure didn't mind him playing while his sternum was'nt fully healed.

To Vince Young's credit, the one aspect about his game (only one) that I think could translate well to the NFL is his leadership ability. He was the heart and soul of that Texas team.

You guys don't give Vince Young enough credit. He is great at throwing the deep ball and great at hitting the TE's. Obviously Philip rivers is going to be a big bust this year as well. Have you seen his throwing motion??? Dan Fouts was never good either, his throwing motion was way off.

I hope your right about Vince.I would liked to have seen Steve McNair tutor him though.

Phillip Rivers may well suck. His game also may well have improved of riding the bench behind Drew Brees (best passer in the NFL for my money) for such a long time.

Mike Vic is a great NFL running back. Vince Young will never be able to carry McNair's jock strap, Cutler will have the best career of the 3 top Qb picks.

Even with all that offensive firepower Leinart has at Arizona (assuming they put a little more into the OL)?

Once Leinart was seen with Paris Hilton, he pretty much guaranteed that he'll be a bust.
