What's the base of jealousy for the people in this thread that you're referring to?
I'm simply commenting on how everyone on this board hates on Miami, OU and USC.

I've been in threads that you hated on people, too.

Doesn't mean he's wrong. A lot of people around here do hate Miami, Oklahoma and USC.

He said they were jealous for hating on Miami, Oklahoma, and USC. He can't say he's not jealous if he does the same thing.

Absolutely I can. When I go after someone, I give actual reasons. The majority of the shots at the triumverate I mentioned contain no reasons, just insults.

He doesn't hate on them though... And he's right. It's not just here though. A lot of people's hate for those teams I've seen all over the net does basically spring from jealousy.

Like when you called Travis Henry "a second rate hack" and "a sawed off Gary Colemen clone?"

Is that not "just an insult?"

I don't like to hear Henry get bashed. We haven't had a back that good since, with the possible exception of Travis Stephens. I think a lot of the hate for Miami and USC stems from the high level of bandwagon fans those teams tend to have. I've heard that the Colosseum was practically deserted before Carson Palmer's senior year. I also noticed a bunch of Miami fans seemed to spring out of nowhere around 2001, 2002. Then again, I guess bandwagon fans are just a perk you get for continued success. Had UT continued to dominate after our national championship, I'm sure we'd have picked up a few bandwagoners, ourselves.

Yeah. Tennessee had bandwagon fans for a couple years after '98. Every team that wins a national title gets bandwagon fans.

Doesn't even compare to USC's bandwagonners.

Well, they won two straight national titles. Plus they're in Los Angeles which has to be worth another doubling (Lakers, anyone?). So that would be 4 times the bandwagoners. Still, principal applies to all schools who win a national title. It's not like you can really single USC out for that. Single out all the fairweather fans. And besides, empty seats when they suck? Umm, I do believe I saw Tennessee games late last season, it's not exactly like Neyland was rockin'. It's just a fact, when a team sucks they don't get that many people at the games. It happens everywhere. And USC really sucked for a while.

Do you know what Tennessee's average attendance has been over the last 10 years? It has pretty much remained steady. Compare it to USC's attendance.

USC avg attendance in 2000: 57, 339
USC avg attendance in 2002: 66,853
USC avg attendance in 2003: 77, 804
in 2005: 90, 812

I wouldn't even compare the 2.

Do you think the Vols lacked fans in the seats before they won a National Championship? No.

Did you know the Vols weren't good in the late 70's and early 80's while I was growing up? I don't remember seeing Neyland half-empty.

Milo . . . This is one area where living on the West coast is just different from the south. Aside from a couple of exceptions, almost all SEC stadiums are going to be at or near capacity regardless what the records are.

I remember going to a Tennessee/New Mexico game in the mid 80s where the attendance was 89,000 (capacity back then was 91K). The crowd booed the PA announcer when it was announced.

Taken out of its context, yes. But when placed in the context that he is vastly overrated and not in the class of guys like Jamal Lewis and Chuck Webb, it fits as embellishment of a point.

I think the number of entertainment options in LA, relative to say Starkville, has something to do with that phenomenon.

How's real estate in ol' Starkville? I imagine $24k a year could get one a pretty damn nice house.
