Urban fits his system to the players at his disposal.
Leak and Tebow were polar opposite QBs, yet Meyer had success with both.
Brantley is a better pure passer than Leak or Tebow. UF's offense next season will look nothing like this past season.
Meyer's success with Leak was as much based on Tebow's running as it was on any adjustment by Urban.
Saying someone is a better pure passing than either Tebow or Leak isn't saying much for someone playing at the highest levels of college football. None of those guys can throw the ball as well as Crompton. And, JC has more potential in the League at QB than does Tebow.
Tebow should be a great NFL tight end, though... possibly a pro-bowler several years down the road at that position. Gator QB's have no NFL credibility and Tebow won't change that. Still, he was one of the best to play at the college level running a system offense that would be far less respected without him. We'll see what Urbie can do when Tebow is gone.
if i remember correctly, didn't a lot of gator posters say we would see brantley quite a bit this year? and i'm not talking mop up duty.
i'm genuinly curious why i at least didn't see him play more.
I missed where NFL potential factored anywhere into this thread. I could care less what Tebow does or doesn't do at the next level. Just another pathetic attempt to throw stones at a kid who owned you guys for 4 years.
Gators whine about anything other than some overstated sucking up to one of their guys. You can take my comment as a compliment to Tebow or an insult to Urban... or simply as a statement of fact.
It doesn't matter to me what some Gator blowhard thinks about it.
If it doesn't matter, then why do you respond?
The fact is some people love taking shots at Tebow, even when the topic at hand has nothing to do with Tebow.
I personally can't wait to see what Meyer does without Tebow. I think Tebow has just as much to do with Meyer's success as Meyer does. I think he might be brought back to reality. Only time will tell.
To give you the same stupid response you gave me. You're the one who keeps coming to a UT board to talk smack. I post the truth and you think you can call me on with stupidity.
If you want to argue the points I made, then have it.
1) Meyer's success with Leach at QB hinged on Tebow's ability to pick up short yardage on 3rd or 4th and short and not on some master overhaul of his system to fit Leach.
2) Claiming your next one is better than the last two at passing isn't saying much. Gators QB's suck in the NFL.
3) Tebow will do nothing to change the reputation of Gator QB's in the NFL.
please dont feed the trolls..and btw i miss those pirouettes from that LEACH guy lol:
Much as I hate to admit it, while Meyer's still at Florida, he's got more SEC titles in his future.
Everybody else in the conference at the time of Meyer's hiring scoffed at the idea of a MAC/MWC guy coming in and having any measure of success in the mighty SEC. I hate him, but fact is he can coach.
If I'm wrong and he never wins another SEC title, though, I'll rejoice.
I personally can't wait to see what Meyer does without Tebow. I think Tebow has just as much to do with Meyer's success as Meyer does. I think he might be brought back to reality. Only time will tell.
Tebow's been making Meyer looking good since 2001.
Remember when Tebow led Utah to that undefeated season in 2004?
Remember when that Tebow-led Bowling Green squad helped Meyer win his first National Coach of the Year award?
I know, right? Just because Meyer won at places like Bowling Green and Utah doesn't mean he'll do squat in the SEC.Remember when Utah and Bowling Green played in conferences that mattered and had stiff competition like the SEC week in and week out?
I know, I know Utah beat Bama last year so they are relevant.
