I agree. I think we're going to see a much larger variety of plays against Oregon and I can't wait to see them unleash the playbook. I'm also excited for Downs, I think he's going to end up a great TE for Tennessee.

While at this point the offense scared me, for some reason the off sides penalty against WKU where UT's O-line just stayed in position was pure gold for me. That was true discipline, which was one of my (many) big gripes against Dooley. I am heavily encouraged for the long term outlook of this team. However, short term, I am still nervous. I had to make a long trip yesterday and caught the Oregon game on XM... and they absolutely demolished Virginia. While I do think UT is a better team, of course, I still think UT is going to have a rough week next week.

For me, the fact that the coaches knew exactly what they needed to do at halftime, and the team came out and exectued that was the big positive of the game. The coaches even corrected their first half mistakes.

In fact, it was what Tennessee did in the second half that confirmed we would have won without the +6 turnover margin.

We aren't as good on offense as I thought. The O-Line needs to play even nastier. Worley needs to improve his fundamentals this week. But there are a lot of positives.

Agree completely about Pig Howard. UT has ZERO playmakers; Howard is really our only potential playmaker in space--and how many touches did he have yesterday? Two, I think--one run and one short pass catch. Not enough.

RE Worley: Let's not act like the SEC hasn't had mediocre or even weak QBs before--there have been plenty of them, and we've had a few. Bama has had a LOT of mediocre QBs over the years; in fact, you can count on one hand the number of good QBs they've had over the last 30 plus years. We need need Worley to complete "deep" passes; we just need him to complete passes--and we should be focusing on the short passing game, not long; we should have Worley and Croom developing some chemistry on short passes, where Croom can use his big body before we try to throw the guy 35 yard passes. The key is to MAKE FIRST DOWNS--and they way you do that, the smart approach, is to throw short, execute the short passing game. Has nobody been watching Manning and Brady for the last decade plus? They have had the best offenses in the NFL consistently because when they need 5 yards, they throw a 7 yard pass--that's the percentage play; you don't throw a 30 yard pass to a freshman receiver when it is 3rd and 4. That's dumb football and the way you lose games. We have an offense much like bama has had in recent years--running game is the strength, and then you use shortish, basic passes to keep the defense honest--nothing fancy, just good execution. Worley can complete shortish passes. The bigger problem with our offense is that he doesn't run the ball, and with the read option, if you're QB doesn't run the ball you are defeating the whole purpose of the scheme.

I'll be surprised if WKU doesn't run the table in the SBC this year and win a bowl game.

See: Hugh Freeze in 2011, Gus Malzahn in 2012.

Yeah, they looked like a good team. I hope their QB's brain/ego bounces back from the psych trauma inflicted on him.

Nothing bout the o-line? How bout that defensive offsides and the frozen O-line to get a free play.. Never seen anything like that in college before
