Tennessee (12) vs LSU (5) Game Thread - 9 PM - SECN

Thanks...67...txbo...and, all others...for giving their all for Tennessee today...rock:

GO BIG ORANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's been a roller coaster Roller. I thought txbo's magic was going to prevail tonight.

Tough season with some gut punch losses - tonight's being the worst obviously - but I am still proud of the kids wearing Orange.

Good luck to the Seniors and Senzel.

Ite easy to blame him

He put the game in the hands of a kid that he kicked off the team last year proving he can't be trusted

He also in the pitching coach of the worst staff in the SEC

Not hard to blame him really

He put the game in the hands of a kid that he kicked off the team last year…so now he can't pitch or be trusted…great logic. BTW, didn't Soto just get suspended for a few games…yet you wanted him to have the ball and proclaim…UT would have won 4-1 or 4-2…I know you have been watching the games all year. Nothing has ever come easy for this team regarding pitching. I understand who recruited the team…I was talking about blaming him for his game decisions.

How can you blame this on Serrano…some of you folks must have never played this game! The Vols ran the bases beautifully, they played great defense, he pulled Neely when he should have, and the bullpen struggled again…Tip your cap to LSU…Hunter came in and had the best stuff a closer has had all year. LSU had great at-bats and won. A gut-wrenching loss for sure, but to start pointing fingers…pathetic.

The game tying HR ball was right down the middle. A high school kid could have hit that pitch out. I'm serious too.

I wouldn't call all of LSU's AB's great either. Our bullpen gave them pitches to hit. Especially the HR ball which was crushed but it should have been too.

Hunter was throwing 92-94 with movement…he threw two good pitches the the kid fouled off. A high school kid could have hit that pitch out…LOL…what makes it even more LOL…is you are serious.

Yes, I'm serious. A good high school hitter could have hit that one pitch out right down the middle. It was a fat pitch. It was chugged right down the middle with the batter down in the count.

You can't make that fat of a pitch in that situation. It was a mistake no doubt but it still was easy for any college or good high school hitter to hit our for a HR.

Been around a lot of good high school hitters and a few great ones and not many would handle that kind of velo. You said it was easy to hit that pitch. There are many pitches thrown right down the middle over the course of a game. Most do not travel 400+ feet. It's not easy.

You must live in Puerto Rico where they have those 22 year old "high school" kids that can go YAK on 94 MPH with movement.

THIS! Plus six stolen bases, throwing 3 LSU runners out at home, clutch hitting in middle innings...tough loss but some things to be excited about! Of course, the naysayers hang around like scavengers. The small number of VOL fans in the crowd brought some electricity, too. Thanks!

Really well played game in all facets, the bullpen just could not hold the lead. Two runners gunned down at the plate in the same inning is unbelievable. You could tell they really wanted to win this game and they played with swagger.

Just got back from the game, and I'm not surprised at all. As soon as I saw Andy cox run onto the field I knew we would give up some runs. Then when we gave up that massive home run, I knew we were done for. The LSU fans were loud and Tennessee fans were not to be heard. We left right after that homer, and sure enough, we heard on the radio we lost.

Watched it on TV until the home run. Turned it off after that as I knew what was going to happen. This is TN baseball.

The team played hard last night really hard.... But relief pitching has been our Achilles heel all year... We had everything go our way until Neely came out.. Then the freaking wheels fell off.. You could feel the momentum swing in the crowd!!! But what's scary is how much we lose this year... This team u less he recruits a top class will most likely not me good at all!! It's going to be a whole new team... But leftridge and Neely will be great for us in the future!!! We just need more people around them

Leftbridge has shown tremendous improvement over the course of the season. I think he is primed for a strong season next year. Neely has a good feel for pitching. Warren is a premium talent. Hunter Martin has developed some arm strength, Santiago has occasional pop. Beyond that it is hoping a couple of guys can bounce back from injuries. Slim pickings indeed.

That ball had no movement. Not saying it's easy to catch up to a 94 mph pitch but one that's belt high and started there isn't the same as what Martin's stuff was doing before that pitch.

yeah, thought we had some good mojo working, but, again...if what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, then we must be some strong dudes...:eek:lol:...loved the fight in this team, all year...definitely was entertaining...and, as always...

Neely pitched great through 6 innings last night and I would have left him in there after the leadoff double to see if he could get through the 7th because 84 pitches is not many and he had LSU frustrated all night. Martin could have pitched the 8th and then Lipinski could have tried to close it out. Cox and Soto both looked like they were tired last night.

The offense did very well last night.

I was really impressed with Tennesse at the plate and on th base paths last night. Rogers is a real talent, such a competitor at the plate. Senzel is almost impossible to get out. The first six guys in your lineup are as good as any team in the league short of aTm and Florida.

I didn't realize Serrano calls the pitches until last night, and frankly if he keeps his job he should be required to hire a pitching coach, because none of the guys who threw last night would pitch for most of the rest of this league except Cox, in middle relief, for his slider. No excuse for having to throw three starters in one game to have any chance.

Martin is a guy who would be an ace at a mid major, but in the sec you have to have movement if you throw straight over the top fast balls. I fear Everett is that guy at Vandy.

Obviously was pulling for UT last night, if only for the national seed competition. If there is good news, if UT hires a head coach who is known for developing pitchers, the program could easily make a leap. Right now, they just don't have the pitching to battle in this league, which is obviously absurdly deep.

Just got back from Hoover, having a beer in my 2016 SEC Baseball Tourney Souvenir Cup...

Wanted to give a shout out to the MSU fans for their kind words regarding the team's play last night. They were very gracious.

Also want to give a tip of the cap to the LSU fans...they know how to bring it and when to bring it, very impressive.

GBO!!!
