Tennessee #8 in CFP

I find this sudden notion that Tulane is a potential playoff team pretty interesting. Far and away, the best teams they have beaten are Louisiana and Navy. Also, they were manhandled by the same Oklahoma team that we handled, in a night game in Norman, the week before we played them. The same Oklahoma team that most have said all season was terrible and in no way should be considered an impressive win for us. Of course, that Oklahoma team has now dominated Alabama so I guess that changes the narrative.
all the more reason not to expand this thing beyond 12 teams...this is really the perfect format, which is why the will probably F it up

SMU may be better than a lot think.

Indiana is a different story. They've played a single decent team all year and got absolutely waxed. I'd be thrilled to draw them. I think we'd hold them to like 40 yards of offense just like OSU did.
Who has SMU played that’s good though? They’ve played BYU and lost at home 18-15. They won by 7 at Louisville and beat Pitt (who has a good record thanks to also playing a weak schedule) by 23 at home. IU’s win over Michigan is as good as beating Louisville or Pitt. I’d bet Michigan would beat either of those teams.

I'm not a fan of any playoff that has a "committee" of bureaucrats deciding who is in and out. To me, the perfect system would be 8 teams with a computer algorithm determining the participants, with no automatic bids. Conference titles can be a heavily weighed parameter. This way, you limit it to teams that truly earned a spot and might legitimately have a chance to win it. CFB ain't March Madness, there won't be any Cinderellas going to the Final Four.

From a pure college football fan perspective, it doesn't get more iconic than those four stadiums: Touchdown Jesus, Neyland at Night, the Horseshoe, and , well, Beaver Stadium lol.

Okay, it could be better if it were the Rose Bowl instead of Beaver Stadium. But otherwise, that's a pretty incredible set of venues for the first round.

The CFP Committee will probably work feverishly behind the scenes to make the first three happen.

Go Vols!

The worst part about it is that SOR only came up when people began to comment on the joke schedules in these other conferences, specifically the Big 10 and Notre Dame.
SOR has Indiana in top 10. Any schedule metric that has Indiana in the top 50 much less top 10 should automatically be eliminated as a metric.

This would be perfectly fine with me, as well. I would like to see how we would perform against Georgia on a neutral site. The only issue is that the "neutral" site in the second round would be Atlanta.

Ugh. We continue to have to debate the same things over and over again. This is completely inaccurate. Top four ranked conf champs get the bye.

They’re a G5 now, and they’ll still get the #4 seed if they win out no matter what because they’ll still be ahead of the Big 12 champion. What

If Notre Dame loses, do you think they'll drop them out of the top 12, freeing up a spot for Clemson or Alabama? I wouldn't mind some shakeup to help us, but really don't want a remote chance of Bama getting in. Hopefully Auburn beats them.
Who knows. Bama and Notre Dame are loved by national media and imo, NCAA. The Irish suffered the worst lost in college football but have played well since.

I’d love to take a trip to South Bend and see if our Vols could get a dub in round one.

I really don't have an issue with having P4 champs getting an automatic bid. The issue with that, for me, is giving conference champs an automatic top 4 seed and a bye. I think they should either drop to 8 or move up to 16 teams with no byes. G5 teams should be treated the same as independents and be required to finish ranked in the field(either 8 or 16). Seeding should be based solely on the teams' ranking. Things like SOS and H2H should get the highest priority when weighting the rankings. Also, in terms of SOS, they should revert back to the BCS formula in which it is not just the record of the teams you play but also the records of who those teams play.

Laws, yes! Yes 100-fold.

That's fine, just please make it 8 teams and not 16, although that's a pipe dream. If the ratings for these games are as high as they hope, this monster is just going to keep expanding. More is better is the modern sports way.

Where is the scenario where Texas loses both games and Georgia kicks A&Ms ass
Well if TX loses to A&M and GA beats A&M in the SECC, then GA would move up to a bye and a two loss TX would still be in front of us. We would not get a home game.

TN Keys:
Beat Vandy,
TX beat A&M,
TX beat GA in SECC.

Texas will not be in front of us if they lose to A&M. Especially if they lose by more than 7 which is highly possible
