Tony V literally discussed on air last week his desire to upgrade and scale up LNS and dove into his vision. He explicitly mentioned extending the LF line to mimic RF and fully enclosing the place. He may go along with playing games at the new Smokies stadium if has no other choice, but that is NOT his desire.
Difficult to get a college feel and home field advantage in a pro stadium sporting Smokies logos, and off campus.
Might be fun on occasion for the guys but it's like highschool playoffs in Dallas Cowboys stadium. Fun once a year but not all the time.

When I was in grad school at WKU they would play UK and UofL in the minor league stadium and it was cool atmosphere for those big games and necessary cause on campus held like 1500 vs 6500 but that’s totally different cause it was 2 big games a year in the midweek. Every home series there would’ve diluted the experience. Got to witness the largest crowd to ever watch a college baseball game in the state of KY when they played UK the first time; it was pretty cool to see almost 7,000 people in attendance.

If that's not his desire to play at Smokies stadium then I would seriously consider his vision. We don't want to get off on the wrong foot with the best coach we've had in baseball in years.

The drawings were revealed somewhere on here on Monday. The vision for the porch was awesome. I’d guess it would push capacity to 5500 or so. Plenty big while still maintaining the intimacy and keeping fans right on top.

Cool, do you remember which thread? I would love to see the drawings.

New Smokies stadium takes care of upgrade. Just my opinion but it's going to be awesome.
Get ready. You are about to get slammed for stating that. I made a point of it (made it clear I was in favor of an on campus facility) being discussed about playing possibly at the new downtown stadium and was ripped for just stating the truth. Its done in other sports as well across the nation..... Again....to be clear...:D...and I'll not get in a useless back and forth again...I AM IN FAVOR OF AN ON CAMPUS FACILITY! :):)

No one denies it’s done but it’s not effective. When I watch a Memphis Tigers game at FedEx it has the feel of an NBA game, not a college game. When I watch Miami at Dolphins stadium it has the feel of a funeral because it’s 65% empty. Students aren’t going to travel in droves to off campus events. There was nothing greater than literally walking across a street to get to LNS when I was in college. It was too convenient to pass up.

CTV has indicated that an upgraded LNS is OK with him. It has a capacity of a little over 4K, but with additional seating down both lines and in the left field home run porch, I bet it could get to 8K. And if you did it well architecturally, it could be a little jewel. I'm guessing, but I think Vitello would be happy with that.

Coach V seems like a players and assistants come first kind of coach. Any news of upgrades to players lounge, workout area, etc? Any news of Coach V taking less money and giving more to assistants?

Cameron arena is a good example. You don't have to be the biggest stadium to make a great home team experience.

Close the road behind outfield .. expand stands to be bigger .. put outfield stands .. move home plate further towards outfield .. make some nice stands all the way down the lines ...

I like the way you think big, but you can't just go around closing roads. Police, fire, and rescue all have a veto in that. And the railroad would likely have an objection. One would think if that could be worked out, it would have happened by now. But maybe run it up the flagpole and see.

The city has ceded most of the campus roads to UTK and they have closed or changed many of those roads.

I bet the biggest concern for Todd Helton Dr is traffic patterns for large events. Dozens of buses park on street for football for instance and not sure where the would go if not available.

I believe the gravel lot behind cf is actually owned by RR but they allow school to use. May not be able to close due to right-of-way issues
