Tennessee basketball players arrested - Tyler, Goins, Cam, and Bryan

First of all, I hate to sound like a lawyer, which I am, but let's please wait until all of the facts come out before we have these guys thrown off the team and remember that everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty. How many of you guys were ready to throw Janzen J. under the bus before all the facts came out?

Secondly, for all of you people calling for Pearl's head, have you forgotten that our program was a laughing stock and completely irrelevant before he arrived 5 years ago? I agree that players acting like this is unacceptable, but we are bringing in guys to try and win championships not choir boys from Farragut. You are the same people that complain when we don't win. YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS.

Also, please don't make the argument that the UNCs, Dukes and UCONNs don't have these problems because it's not the same. The traditional basketball schools can pick and choose from the best players in the country and if they don't like a player they can afford to pass on him (i.e. Duke passing on John Wall). However, schools like TN have to get as many good athletes and players as they can and sometimes this means taking a chance on some guys that don't work out, but I don't hear most of you complaining when we win. Pearl isn't perfect, but at least we're relevant again. So much so that our fans actually complain about our team "only" being in the top 20. Man, we sure do have short memories.

Sorry for the long rant, but it needed to be said.

 +1

The Good News...If these guys shoot guns like they shoot free throws, the general public need not be too worried.

Great. Now all my friends from Kansas are going to be giving me so much crap after we definitely get dominated in a week. This is so freaking typical of Tennessee. With all the crap that happened this football season and now this, I'm honestly losing hope in our future. Why on Earth are these idiots carrying around guns? What could they possibly need a freaking gun for in Knoxville TN? I'm so sick of hearing stories like this come out of Tennessee. It's gotten to the point that its embarrassing being a fan.

I am sure if Coach Calapari had this happen at UK, if it were Wall,Cousins,Bledsoe, and Patterson.....they would be dismissed from the team. Got to have a zero tolerance and integrity in your university.:)

Haven't we learned from the Pilot robbery. Volnation calling for heads and facts are not out yet. My God, they could all be guilty or be in someone else's car. Maybe one had possession. All four can't own one gun and one bag? We don't know the truth so we should shut up and wait. Get a grip Volnation! Everyone condemned Janzen Jackson and he had nothing to do with the crap. Few of Volnation care about the young man but Most of you see uniforms only!

It is becoming increasingly difficult to be a Tennessee fan. Stop recruiting wanksters!!!!....and thank the Lady Vols B-ball team for being the schools only media bright spot.

Tyler Smith was commended to be closer to his ailing father who passed away(one reason for trouble), he's a hero coming back and not declaring and know he's a wanksta b/c you who know NO particulars says so? You may be a Wanksta!

I hope UT fans show this amount of care and concern after UK smacks us in the butt.

this incident really fits in with the whole image of the team...i believe it explains some of the play from the past 2 years also

Boo hoo. The end is near for the lying goof and I love it.

I typically don't bump threads, but I happened to be reading this thread again after linking to it from another bumped thread. I thought this little tidbit was interesting.

This is not an attempt to bash the poster, but rather just an observation.

After the arrests, many, but not all, were putting much of the blame on Pearl. Even the poster I quoted was apparently salivating like a starving dog in a meat house over the recent events due to his much documented disdain over the Head Coach.

Its interesting to see how these events that some thought to be the beginning of the end of Pearl seem to have lended a hand to unifying this team and its coach and it very likely one of the catalysts that propelled this Head Coach and his team to their historic run through the tourney. It quite likely even further cemented CBP's job security instead of the failed prediction above.

What could have brought the coach and the program down, instead brought them up.

Woo Hoo! The future is bright for Coach Pearl and the Program and I love it!
