Tennessee basketball players arrested - Tyler, Goins, Cam, and Bryan

Guys, I'm a fan of the Volunteers and have been for over 40 years. And having said that, I will say this: This crap has to stop. You can say "Well, they're just kids" or make excuses. But it's gone past an isolated incident here and there. It's a pattern. And whatever Mike Hamilton, Bruce Pearl and Lane Kiffin have to do to make this cease - well, they need to do it starting tonight. All four of these basketball players should be told to pack their bags and leave. Tonight. And any other athletes, from five-star players to walk-ons, should get the same treatment.
I want to be as proud of the Vols off the field as I am of them on the field. And tonight, I am not. I'm ashamed of them.

No big deal. I just sent a request to the mods to have my profile deleted. I'm done with all this...

You can post as much disguised vitriol as you choose. I don't care. America is great because we can all have our opinions, even if they are completely wrong, and even if the person having the opinion has no idea why it's wrong....

We'll miss you about as much as we miss Kentucky fans.

Agreed. This is a pattern and we are sure to take a beating in the national media not to mention on the recruiting scene. I don't know the answer. I am just so ashamed and disgusted right now. The real shame is that for every one idiot there are numerous athletes up there that conduct themselves with integrity but the idiots ruin it for everyone.

I haven't heard any comments on the car that they were driving. GoVolsExtra reported that the Dodge Charger was being driven by Cameron Tatum. They also reported that it was a rental car with Illinois plates on it. Does the car being a rental car make it look worse than it already does? Is it uncommon for a student athlete to drive a rental car? This may get worse before it gets better, but I hope not...We need some good recruiting news to lighten our spirits...Happy New Year! Go VOLS!

If the car is rented, will it be impounded by the police and seized, since it was part of a crime?

I thought the season met expectations and that the staff have many positives to build on in the next few years. I wasn't expecting a 10 win season. Were you?

I would have liked to end the season with a bowl win, but VA Tech was a tough draw. We were outmatched talent-wise on both sides of the football. And our weaknesses on the patchwork lines were exposed.

What are your specific complaints with the current coaching staff? And what areas do you think need improvement?

I was not expecting 10 wins either. I said in anohter thread that we had no business playing im that bowl game, we are not as good and I was jumped on for making that statement.

My complaints from the game last night: way too many wr screens, I thought RS was rehired and calling the plays. 3 and 24, we were down 13 points with 10 minutes to go and Kiffin calls a freaking run?

I am more upset with Hamilton than Kiffin really though. I like Kiffin, his energy his recruiting abilities and his arrogance, but I don't think he is ready for this stage. Since his hiring I have always thought in the back of my mind, does he really want to be here? And before it's said I love UT more than anyone could ever know, I want us to go 14-0 every year, while I know that is unrealistic, that is what I want.

It still just astounds me how these guys can do things this stupid, I mean Nu'keese probably had a good NFL career ahead of him, now he doesn't have crap. The same thing is going to happen with Smith now too. I just don't understand what drives anyone to be in their positions and then to go and get a gun with an altered serial number. And now they have not only screwed up their lives, but they have left the team in a bad situation being four players short.

I done some pretty dumb things in college, but good grief....I think a lot of this stems back to the situation of how/where they were raised. It does blow my mind to think how they are possibly just throwing away millionaire careers, but one thing is for certain, it's a hard way to learn a lesson, if they choose to learn.

They play so smart on the court, it just surprises me that they would do something this dumb off the court....Weird.

key word being IF they choose to learn...looks like at least two of them will get felony gun charges since there was two handguns under both the driver and passenger seat...expensive way to learn a lesson...GBO!

Request granted.

Boom goes the dynamite.

Seriously though, why do these athletes jeopodize their "out" on the same crap that held them down with before? What the hell do you do when maybe 1 or 2 may have been the responsible party? Hang them all for the company they keep? Reeks of the BB gun heist from the football players ordeal. Tuff call on this one, and will be interesting to see how it's handled.

So I just returned from Atl.. First thing I see is this..

Long ride home.. Still pissed from last night.. Not planning on reading the 200 stupid threads regarding this incident..

Does anyone care to summarize what in fact happened and what we have found out this far as to their fate with the team?

Don't know about it being uncommon for a student athlete to be driving a rental car, but, don't you have to be at least 25 years old to rent a car? Used to be that way, don't know if it still is or not though.

This rental car thing scares me a little bit, what if someone rented it for them?

I've got it! It was all a setup, someone offered to rent a car for them for the night and planted the guns in the car. They then bribed the police to pull them over and arrest them. That has to be it, I mean really, there is no other explanation for why they would do something this stupid:)
