Tennessee drawing Purdue was wrong

It hasn’t really gotten much discussion, but Tennessee was the top 2 seed in the NCAAT. Purdue was the 2nd highest 1 seed. And yet, we drew them as our 1 seed. That was completely unfair to Tennessee.

The regular season is supposed to be about putting yourself in the best position come tournament time. So not only was Tennessee arguably screwed out of a 1 seed it deserved more than UNC, but then it gets matched with a 1 seed it shouldn’t have been matched with. Tennessee should have been matched with UNC or Houston.

Meanwhile, Alabama gets to brag about a Final 4 because they, as a 4 seed, got an easier road than anyone in the tournament.

Tennessee should have been in the Final 4 last year. The tournament committee kept us out.

There were prior threads explaining that the NC2A doesn’t place teams based off seeds.

Both of those teams went to the Final 4. They didn’t just beat Tennessee, they beat other good teams because they were hot.

Those weren’t breaks. Those were draws of teams that were SUPPOSED to be worse than they were, but we’re playing way better than they had all season. Those were bad breaks.

A break is getting this year’s Clemson team in the E8. A break is only playing 1 good team on your way to the F4 and that team plays its worst game of the year against you. A break is playing 13 and 12 to get to the S16…and that 12 played the worst basketball I saw the entire tournament, but you’re barely any better. Those are breaks.

Purdue was not the 2nd highest 1-seed. Houston was.

If a 7’20” 500 lbs. man is allowed to camp in the lane as long as he wants he’s going to be tough to beat. If ZZ hits his numbers Vols won.

So you weren't relieved that we played 11 seeded Loyola or got to play the winner of 8 FAU vs 16 FDU? If you were, then that means it was a break. But I understand what you're saying. Each of those teams were hot and sometimes that's more important than skill

Sure I was. Because I was ignorant of how they were going to play. We all were. We didn’t play the name on their jerseys or the season they’d had…we played the product on the floor on those days, which was way better than their seeding.

I think Barnes has trouble with defending against and scheming offensively against very tall centers.
