Anyone else think this could potentially be a dicey situation w/ Fulmer and Pruitt?
I agree this pick needs to be all on Pruitt and Pruitt needs to understand he will live or die by his own sword. If he makes a pick based on friendship and it doesn't work out he may be ruining his future. If he makes a great pick that works out he should get all of the credit. This is not a spot a 2nd year head coach should ever want to be in. I personally think a safe bet and one that wouldn't hurt us would be Dan Enos unless someone can come up with another coach not listed that will take the job.Yep, Fulmer needs to butt out on this. He hired Pruitt and should let him do his job unless and until he feels the need to fire him. Fulmer's not been able to help himself from commenting about the program. Fulmer needs to remember what it was like to be the head coach and have to put up with unnecessary AD input/public comments. I know that it's hard for him to refrain from interfering because of his mostly successful coaching background, but he needs to respect the AD/coach boundaries that Pruitt needs to do his job.
If I'm being honest about what I think CJP would want/accept . . .
Absolutely never:
Kingsbury will not work with a control the clock, run first mindset of our head coach. Although he did coach up Jonny Football. Did JM just improvise at aTm or was it more Scheme providing opportunities to showcase your players talents?
Freeze is just too risky. He can coach. I have doubts about recruiting if he has to play by the rules. And after the fans made it clear character matters last coaching search I don't see ADPF doing that.
Kiffin is a pipe dream and nightmare, but there is a chance . . . .im jk he's never coaching at UT again.
Kitchens will not sacrifice his pension for a lateral move with marginally more stability.
Gruden: I really hope you guys are just joking. Not only is he not coming here, he isn't exactly looking like Vince Lombardy this year.
We wish:
Briles: (the son, forget his first name); he has done well at FAU and he's at Houston now. I have to imagine we can offer more than Houston.
Sanders, has his new (in every sense of the word) team playing good. He's the HC, so why take a demotion. He will get HC looks soon if he keeps ETSU playing hard. I don't know how much he is making, but I bet it would be a pay raise, so there's that.
Pittman (with or without Chaney) would be ideal. However it seems silly to leave UGA for the @@@@ show that is UT football when he is focused on the SECCG as we speak.
Why are we even talking about these?
Auburn OC, they are up and down. Feast or famine from year to year, I'll pass. Why would we want an offense that underperformed with a head coach that is focused on offense?
Tee Martin: see how good USC looked after Tyson left? Could you imagine if our offense took a step BACK?
Peyton: God bless him, but why does everyone think he will fix our offense? And even if he could, why would he take the job and be a subordinate toCJP? He makes more money not coaching than he ever would coaching even though money is no object to him. Peyton is a legend at UT, being OC can only hurt his legacy.
My predictions: will Friend :thud:
Sanders, isn’t he the guy that fans used to scream to fire when he was OC here before? If I'm being honest about what I think CJP would want/accept . . .
