Every other member of the SEC has four or more black coaches and we're down to one.
Butch has the good 'ole boy network going. I'd say there's a 99.9 percent chance the new running backs coach is black and should be for multiple reasons all of which are legit.

I'd like a run down of the reasons please.

The basketball staff makes up for any imbalance in the football staff. You won't find that at most SEC schools.
Our next RB coach should be the best coach available whether he's black or white, but especially if he's Orange.

So you're all for hiring someone because of their skin color v. their qualifications?

Good work, keep it up!

My wife is asian. Ill talk to her about what she knows about running backs and get back with you lol

According to the OP if he/she isn't white then it's cool with him because that's how it should be!

Uhhhh, stupidity. Not the good ole boy network- hired coaches he's had success with, know his system. He hired Willie Martinez, Tommy Thigpen and rehired Graham. All "men of color" and all very good coaches/recruiters. I say he goes and gets the best available recruiter he can find regardless of race and, quite honestly, if he's from an SEC staff he probably will be black. But do it in that order....

Obviously we want the best qualified, but I'd take a black coach over a white coach right now assuming they are close to being equally qualified. Let's face it. There are differences in culture; and a black coach, generally I would think, can relate more to black players. And we recruit more black players than white players. Just the way it is.

Not always true but more often than not. jmo. tifwiw...probably very little.

WTF?! My OP isn't racist. This is from Evan Woodbury on GoVolsXtra.

"The only current assistant coach without previous ties to Jones is linebackers coach Tommy Thigpen. Thigpen is also the lone black assistant coach on the staff, so many believe the next hire will be black.

Tennessee is the only team in the SEC with fewer than three black assistants. Most teams have four or more."

I guess that's racist too?

I want the best coach that can get results. I don't care if he's purple. Narrowing search credentials to only coaches whom are black is not only ignorant, but excludes all other coaches that may either be a better fit with our offensive and recruiting systems, or have better resumes with proven results.

This thread should be deleted immediately.

This poster is a confirmed Vandy troll. Not sure why he is still allowed on VN.

Well I understand what you mean. If you guys don't think young Black guys and their families don't look at this then you need a reality check. The 5* star kids that are from the inner city need someone he can relate to.
