He has only played when the game has been put away and faced no pressure. Mop up duty is pretty easy. None of the QBs who will be fighting for the job next year has proven they are the starter. n One must remember, Milton won the job last year in practice and lost it during the early season. Hopefully one of the three will in the job and be able to keep it. If it is Milton great. If it isn't, the one of the other guys beat him out. The best must be the one who plays. What specifically this season has Milton done to show you he can’t handle the pressure? Or, is your take that he’s not played during pressure situations therefore your take is from the first 2 games from last season?
Physically, he's a beast. Having been in the military for 37 years though, I don't believe people who make poor decisions under fire can be fixed. He may not last any longer as a starter the next time than he did the last time. This year we have not seen him in more stress than practice, and I guess he is a good at practicing. Lamaleva is coming into a real opportunity.

Y’all are amazing. You’re basically judging a player on a small part of last year and a few wee bits of playing time this year.
Don’t forget that he came to us from the portal and a system vastly different than what UT runs with a very short time to learn our system. Joe has now had time to get comfortable in this offense, get his confidence back and learn what is expected of a Vols QB. You can probably safely bet that rooming with Hendon has also helped a ton.
Give him a chance and trust this staff to make the correct decisions about the position.
I don't know if GUNTERSVOL is referring to the Ole Miss game from last year, or a game this season, and I'm not inclined to go looking through old posts. If he is talking about the Mississippi game, he very definitely ran out of bounds and ended the game.
I have been encouraged by what I've seen of him this season, even if it's mop up duty. He has shown touch on his throws, which he didn't have last year, and on quarterback runs, he has put his head down and hit the would be tackler, delivering the blow. Last year he wouldn't do that.
His talent throwing the ball has improved this year. If he is QB1 next year, I will be cheering for him until he gives me a reason to look for a change.

His play of running out of bounds with the clock was a bad play. It eliminated ANY possibility of having another play to try to score and exhibited the fact that he was unaware of the circumstances of the game or that he did not want to take a hit. It was a decision which any QB with his head in the game can not make. You can not pick just one of his overthrows on deep passes last year. He had at least 4 in the Pitt game which would have won the game. He has looked better with his deep throws this year and I think most of our fans will agree he has the potential to be a very good player next year. However, I think the other two scholarship players have the skills to become very good players next year. All I am saying is, there will be QB competition this off season and during Spring and Fall practices. He seems to be one who will have the opportunity to win the starting nod, but that is not a given. May the player who gives us the best chance of winning be the starter when the 2023 season begins. Would you have put Hooker on the bench when Milton returned from injury? I would not and the coaching staff didn't. Competition for that position should be fun the watch next year and may the best player win.The most overlooked relative fact from last year was he was the last man in the QB room. HH had spring practice after his arrival. JM arrived sometime in the summer, threw it around with some guys, but only had fall practice to develop his relationship with his receivers while splitting reps. HH got his shot and the rest is history.
JM's two most criticized plays, running out of bounds and badly overthrowing the backup tight end in the endzone were both Myths by negavols as evidenced by these two screenshots,

He has had several highlight plays in his limited actions this year, any offsetting FACTUAL bad plays?
