Tennessee Lady Vol News

The problem, as detailed in that article, is she doesn't rebound against quality competition. She hasn't gotten a rebound in the last 3 games. But hey, let's keep starting her...
I'm in she should not start group. She only plays like 9 minutes, but we could work her in at other times rather than the start of game and start of third quarter.

Agree, kind of limits a great start to each half if the best player (Holl) is on the bench, but other than that her 9-10 minutes could be used at spots to rest starter or help in foul trouble situations…If her defense was better it would not be such an issue, but it seems like good 5’s start off with momentum against her defense……just my .02 cents.

Women's Bracketology: Which team gets the final No. 1 seed?

Still a seven seed need to get some wins and move that up.
I don’t think we can move higher than that unless we somehow beat SC. No real opportunities left for a big win outside of them and I think this seeding assumes we don’t lose to anyone else. I could see us losing at Arkansas and that would probably drop us to an 8. We better hope that doesn’t happen because that means we would have to upset a 1 seed on the road just to get back to the sweet 16, and even that assumes winning a likely toss-up game against a 9 in the first round.

I agree. Might be better to be an 11/12 seed than an 8/9. That first game is a toss-up either way, but the path is easier thereafter for the 11/12 seed to make the S16.

In the committee’s eyes, last night’s loss isn’t bad because it’s a Q1 loss and all of our losses are Q1. It still stings though, because every Q1 win matters and will be taken into account as the committee splits hairs for seeding. Lots of teams ahead of us have worse losses, but we really need to add to our Q1 win total. That game at Arkansas is another opportunity that’s even more important after last night’s loss.

Arkansas is a really tough one to figure out. They have 2 fast, athletic guards that can score from all over the court, an excellent spot up shooter, and then two versatile forwards that can score inside and out. They can't rebound for sh1t, but they have a really potent offense. When they're clicking, they can put points on the board in a hurry. Going into SEC play, I tagged them as the likely non-SC/LSU loss, not MSST.

Looks like the Women's basketball portal dates will be March 13 to May 11th. I thought it was longer last season. So about two months for players to transfer and be eligible to play the next season. I guess after that you would have to sit out a season or be a Grad transfer.

I think it’s good to shorten it. Creates a lot of turmoil for programs when the portal is active.

Me too, but couldn't they move it back a month until after the season is over? April 13- June 11th? Seems crazy to open pandora's box while many staffs are concentrating on the most stressful part of the season. Also less uncomfortable for players wanting to transfer out.

That’s also what I think. I do not like that it coincided with the tournament last year. The portal was a big distraction from March madness. I remember complaining that’s all anyone was talking about instead of the dang tournament lol

It will give us something to talk about don't think we will be playing long after March 13th maybe we can grab some players while others are concentrating on the NCAA Tourney.

It's hard to believe that we have two of the top 10 players in this year's draft, and still we are struggling so much.
When they both play like top ten players we win. Sometimes Jordan more than Rickea doesn't play that well. I think we are developing a third player in Jill so I think when all three of them are clicking and the others are making the right decisions with the ball we can win against almost anybody. That hasn't happened a lot this season.

Exactly. Gotta find a way to make it all click together, something we haven't done yet. Who knows if we will.

Heard an old interview w RJ where she said all she wants is to touch the floor, just touch the floor in an NCAA tourney game. That should provide plenty of motivation for her. And the crowning blow to our disaster season if even that doesn't happen.
