It is indeed more toxic as keyboard warriors can post in total anonymity. what you may also consider is "when" you are hereI am 83 and have been a fan since 1978 and have enjoyed the rise and success of the LVs, attended five final 4's and while still living in Knoxville had third row seats behind the bench.
I believe it was the Cincinnati Final 4 where an article spoke of the coming of women basketball to ESPN and the expectation of it promoting more emphasis on becoming an elite playes, which then happened.
The only information on women's recruiting was one douple page in the back of college basketball annual magazines.
We became upset some years later when a coach from CT purchased a house for the mother of a player MM and allowed her to sell her handbags.
We sadly saw the decline in health and death of our Coach,
The social media craze, the pandemic and NIL came in this decade and College basketball has become a business(period). My years of enjoyment of watching practice no longer exists anywhere. and I understand.
What is lost for for me is the former enjoyment of interacting on this board - in a friendly and sometimes humorous manner. I now only visit once a month (this being June) and in scanning and reading monthly since March I find the board is Toxic. It could be a political board, the remarks made by a Congresswoman from GA concerning the eyelashes of a fellow Congresswoman who was black, were so similar to remarks made by several regulars over the last year.
I know I have lived to long to understand. I don't write this as holier than thou, only that I miss the former inter-play of sometime back which is no longer the focus.
I’m 82 and understand exactly what you mean. Pat Summitt was a pioneer and did so much for the game and I loved watching her coach. There are some great folks on this board and some that would argue with a fence post. I just try to enjoy the good ones.I am 83 and have been a fan since 1978 and have enjoyed the rise and success of the LVs, attended five final 4's and while still living in Knoxville had third row seats behind the bench.

She was one of a kind. She carried herself in a way that both men and women could model themselves to her. She was a great coach, but a better person....I’m 82 and understand exactly what you mean.
