A parent of a highly ranked HS player wrote this to me recently:

Kentucky men's program tried to win championships through the portal and now it is 13 years since they have won a Natty....SoCar, ND, the Connies all recruit the top HS picks and look at where they are year after year

Yes, the game has changed,,,but the player/coach-org relationships are still preeminent in decisions made by the HS recruits that really make a difference...It is when they don't find what my above parent wrote that they end up in the portal most of the time


Yes basketball has changed,,,but I live by a couple of self-quotes....:

"Be not the first to decide, nor the last to abide"
and
"Don't grow the game,,grow with the game"

Who would listen to anything John Adams said anyway? Look at some of the best teams in Tennessee history. 1998 team had Steven's, Milligan ,Green. Not the most athletic players on the team.

Sam Williams posted a pic a month or so ago (which I believe is posted upthread in this thread) of them both at a USA Basketball event. Apparently Kellie is continuing to work with them as she has for the last few years. She looked great.

Are you serious with the claim KY men tried to use the portal to win championships? They are criticized for the opposite until the coaching change forced it for 2024/25. They did some portal late but they had six freshmen last year and consistently had the top or second to Duke best recruiting classes. Choose another example.

Have you not listened to Dave Hooker before? He's horrendous. Never even cared about the program until last year when he constantly criticized the program. If we don't win big this year, he will likely do the same.

Can you blame her? She's still in town trying to sell her house and is constantly reminded of what happened and how it happened. Sorry this was meant for Special Ed.

Hooker is born and raised in Knoxville. He grew up in the Summitt era of winning, so to say he didn’t care is false. Unfortunately for the program, Kellie gave many radio and podcast host low hanging topic discussions.
