Tennessee Lady Vol News

Yes, too much noise, the tweets above of Tamari and Alexus are part of a group of tweets of team and Kellie, and are easy to hear. Can you bring the rest of those here?
Haven't been able to find them anywhere utsports.com or other sources if someone knows where they are would be glad to bring them here.

European gyms are more difficult on feet than American gyms? Interesting.

Maybe -- and try to stay with me here -- she shouldn't have been playing in ANY gym this summer, since extended rest is the only real treatment for her injury. But good news, she'll get plenty of it now...

That's a sorry thing to be saying about any player from any team, much less a much-loved player from one's "own" team.

I think the contenders for the starting five are: Key, Burrell, Horston, Green, Walker, Puckett, and Dye. I think Key and Burrell are certain. Horston is either a starter or will again play the sixth man role. Walker looks again to start at point guard. Whether they start or not Puckett and Dye will play huge minutes. Green had a starting role before she was injured last season definitely in the rotation. Don't know how all the others fit in Kellie said all freshmen will play a lot in non-conference games so that is good news for Striplin, Wynn and MIles. Have to figure Saunders will get some minutes at the five when Key is on the bench. Wynn has been applauded as a defender and defensive players always find huge minutes. Just like you can play yourself into minutes you can also play yourself out of minutes. Right now I would say the newest players really pushing for minutes are Puckett and Dye.

I see the starters being Walker, Horston, Burrell, Key and Dye. We probably won't see that lineup to begin with as Kellie will be trying to make other players comfortable within the team on the floor. I foresee a lot of rotation and different lineups early in the season. Dye may end up being a handful for other teams to handle. Looking forward to season with great anticipation. I think we have enough bodies this year to help with some players needing rest and recovery.

I'm seeing that same starting lineup, OrangeM.

And Volfan2012, I'm thinking Green may need a few weeks to get back into the physical and mental place she'll need to be in to be first off the bench. I'd be surprised if she's first off the bench, honestly -- no matter how much Kellie and appreciative fans like us love having her on the floor. I could be totally wrong about that and she could [I hope she is] already be fully good to go. But I doubt it.

My mind is blown by how many different, yet still strong, player combinations Kellie could confidently put on the floor this season. And early indications are that attitude/effort-wise, this team very well could end up being one of the most special in LVBB history. I know that sounds like typical fan hyperbole, but I actually, truly can already sense some special magic among this particular group of players and staff.

This years team is the deepest that I can remember in a long time. We've almost always had the bodies but they were not developed to the point that they could affect an outcome. I too agree with OM about the lineups.

I'm guessing a starting lineup of

Walker/Horston/Burrell/Green/Key

I think Kellie will start experience over youth, and program experience over other experience.

What’s considered a great rebounding average? I don’t know, but here are some of last year’s stats. Rennia had the best rebounding by far of all our players. She averaged 8.8 per game, next was Kasi at 6.0, Tamari 5.6, Rae 4.6, JW 4.5, and JH 3.9.

Compare that to Alexus, I know it was a different conference, but her rebounding average was 12.6 rebounds per game. That’s huge. As far as shooting percentage, Alexus .495, Rennia .480, and Rae .458.

Alexus is experienced, if she plays anywhere near her last year’s production, she looks like a starter.
