Tennessee Lady Vol News

Oh FFS, has anyone in an HR department ever kept their job by using that excuse?

"My job is complex boss, you can't hold me accountable for the results."
If you’re saying fans are the boss and Kellie is the employee….you’ve got it wrong. And I find that a good deal of the time, the employee knows more and workers harder than the boss.

If I were a recruit, a personality test would be a huge turn off to me. It's like telling me you don't want to take the time to get to know me. This is like crappy hiring manager corporate stuff. Most of those things are garbage scientifically speaking.

Humans are complex, fine. But we all deal with humans every single day. I have to sell myself and my team to potential clients almost every day. I'm not a people person but the process is simple. Figure out if you want them. Figure out what they want. Convince them you can deliver that for them. Oh, and don't sabotage yourself with stupid stuff like personality tests, figure that out yourself by actually getting to know them.
I never said personality tests replace getting to know a recruit. You clearly know nothing about recruiting.

I can easily prove you wrong. For example, the pandemic alone has tossed the recruiting process over end: “It may take years, though, for the recruiting life cycles to excise the remnants of the pandemic. There are already some worries about how a health-related restriction in one place, like a prohibition on campus visitors, might give a different school in another location an advantage in its efforts to attract recruits.” Ready to Recruit in Person, College Coaches Move Toward Normal

Given that so many employers today do use personality testing, it's certainly not going to hurt the players to have that experience under their belts after their playing days are over and enter the post-basketball workforce. Most coaches are preparing young women for life after college along with teaching basketball, so I think it's cool that Lady Vols will be experienced with those things if they're ever asked to take one in the future.

There is absolutely no public statement, explicit or implied, in which Kellie is saying she is getting subpar recruits.

Yes, a sure sign of being satisfied with your recruiting is firing your recruiting coordinator, and reshuffling your staff to bring in people who are touted as being better recruiters. We all know if she was dissatisfied she wouldn't take concrete actions reflecting her displeasure and would instead issue public statements whining about it and insulting what talent she was able to attract.

To determine if a coach is getting subpar recruits you must have a track record of them actually playing at this level. There is certainly nothing that exists like that at this time so anyone talking about any of these players being bad players is just blowing hot air. If you have some proof that they can't play or are subpar as some have already determined then let's see that proof right now. The group of 2021 was highly regarded by recruiting services ranking 9 and 15th best class in their final rankings. Dye is a player that transferred in that I believe will be a tremendous player for us. Justine is our only recruit in 2022 but she is ranked number 11 and we'll see what happens before next season. The portal will have a 1000 players you can get a top ranked class just by recruiting from there.

The only college level play that exists right now is the exhibition game where our freshmen went 11 of 28 from the field and secured 24 rebounds in 64 minutes of play. One had five steals in 19 minutes. Another had 9 rebounds in 22 minutes. One poster said this didn't mean anything maybe it doesn't , but it is what happened. Another said it was cherry picking yet this is the only game that exists to determine their play so how can you cherry pick one game when you give the exact totals of that one game. Alexus Dye had 12 points and 6 rebound in 16 minutes of play. This isn't all we have on her she has a history of excellence playing for Troy and in the NCAA.

What? I said she hasn’t implied it, which is nothing close to publicly whining. Sullivan took a head coaching job, one she had been waiting awhile for. Goldwire was not effective. I have no idea what your comment means.

Get serious, no coach in any sport in the history of signing day has ever said... "well we really tried, but this class of subpar recruits isn't what we were hoping for..."

Every recruiting class is full of great players and better people that will help the program tremendously!

That's one way of looking at it. Another would be: Kellie thinks to herself: "A 9/15 class is a very good thing, but a top 5 class is even better. So what do I need to do to ge there? I need two staffers who are excellent recruiters as well as coaches, and now is the time to do that, given that one of my current staffers is leaving anyway. Then we'll spend this recruiting season fostering relationships with the top recruits in the nation. We'll roll the dice and see what happens for 22 and 23, and not take development projects in 22, saving the spaces for elite recruits or transfers. Yep, that's the ticket."

Since you apparently don't even know what the words you use mean it is not surprising you have trouble following the conversation.

You know, you wouldn't embarrass yourself like this if you just thought logically rather than emotionally. It is OK to admit she hasn't been getting the results she wants. It is not like it is a huge secret. And pretending she doesn't understand the level she needs to recruit at just implies she is not fit to guide the program. I don't think that is the case, but if you want to keep making that argument I am not going to stop you.
