Tennessee Lady Vol News

That's one way of looking at it. Another would be: Kellie thinks to herself: "A 9/15 class is a very good thing, but a top 5 class is even better. So what do I need to do to ge there? I need two staffers who are excellent recruiters as well as coaches, and now is the time to do that, given that one of my current staffers is leaving anyway. Then we'll spend this recruiting season fostering relationships with the top recruits in the nation. We'll roll the dice and see what happens for 22 and 23, and not take development projects in 22, saving the spaces for elite recruits or transfers. Yep, that's the ticket."

I accept your concession that she was not getting the results she thought she needed, or that were at the level UT is accustomed to getting. It is nice when we can all agree.

"There is absolutely no public statement, explicit or implied, in which Kellie is saying she is getting subpar recruits."

Since you apparently don't even know what the words you use mean it is not surprising you have trouble following the conversation.

You know, you wouldn't embarrass yourself like this if you just thought logically rather than emotionally. It is OK to admit she hasn't been getting the results she wants. It is not like it is a huge secret. And pretending she doesn't understand the level she needs to recruit at just implies she is not fit to guide the program. I don't think that is the case, but if you want to keep making that argument I am not going to stop you.
Uh, I have a PhD in philosophy. Kellie is on track with recruits. End of conversation.

She needs to win..nuff said

win the games she's supposed to, a few of the ones she isn't supposed to win and then peak at the right time (playoffs) = top 5 recruits seriously considering us...We have to change the image. Right now it's vogue to include TN but not commit to there. Got to change that!

Coaching 40 years one thing rings true in all levels and orgs re youth basketball,,,"there are elite ballers who want to be the show and there are elite athletes who want to join the "already in production" show (what I call "jumpers"). They jump to championship bound teams just to say they were champions. But they earn that right by being can't miss players.

We have athletes who want to be the show right now. Lay the foundation and begin the success of the production. Now we have to see who the next headliner is. One of our own, a transfer or a newbie.

To everyone interested the UCF game on Friday is on ESPN plus only. That is a separate subscription that you can get I think for 6.99, I've had the bundle for a couple of years where you get Disney Channel, Hulu, and Espn Plus all three for 13.99 which is the better deal only if you like the other two.

Then there are some like Paige Beukers who want/are both. There are plenty of types out there, I would not limit it to two types, a bit simplistic I think.

So we agree that there's no need to panic over the 22 class and that Harper's recruiting so far has been very good but not elite, and that it is too early to tell whether she can or can't recruit elite (top 5) players?

Just looking at the schedule we need to go 22 and 7 and 12 and 4 SEC that would be the season I would expect out of the team in the regular season this year.
7 losses during the regular season would be maximum, imo.
Outside of South Carolina, Connecticut and Stanford, we will probably be favored in every other contest.
I know that doesn't guarantee a win, but we shouldn't lose more than 4 of the following games.
Closest games (Not counting SC, uconn and Stanford)
Central Florida on the road
South Florida at home
Texas at home
Virgina Tech. on the road
Arkansas on the road
Texas A&M at home
Mississippi on the road
Kentucky at home
Georgia on the road
Mississippi St at home

SEC is tough on the road even SC last season lose two on the road. We'll lose at least three SEC games on the road more than likely lose on the road at UConn. Beating Stanford at home will be very tough their talent level is second to none. There are some other road games that may go either way. I hope people want be disappointed with 7 losses in the regular season when you have this many freshmen as your bench it could happen. I'm actually quite worried about the game Friday on the road at UCF very early season game and the road is so much more difficult than home . 22 and 7 is a number I will be comfortable with this team. I hope we don't lose any, but I'm looking at 12 and 4 in the SEC and non conference losses to UConn and Stanford and one slip up that is unexpected hope that isn't against UCF Friday.

Ole Miss,Georgia and Ark. Could all be a lose.....

I think that is a fair assessment at this point with so little info about how this team will jell. I do think at least one loss will come from a team we are not expecting to upset us at all, as this seems to be the pattern for all teams except occasionally for the top few. While I want our record to be as good as possible for seeding purpose and optics, it is even more important that we have a great trajectory and be playing our best at the end of the season. This hasn't happened yet for Harper, and she needs to demonstrate that this will be norm when we have adequate depth like we do this year.

When I went through your schedule, I got the same counts. 22-7 12-4. My biggest concern going forward is that you have two players that can not be replaced. Rae and Key. Everyone has a bad game here and there. If Rae and Key have a bad game at the same time, it's going to be difficult to win almost any SEC game. Other than that 2nd or 3rd in SEC and #3 - #4 NCAA seed. Exactly what is needed to motivate some of the top 23's to put on the Orange.

Checking the schedule access seems to be fine to all games except for the two games that will be carried by Flosports. To see those you will need a subscription that is 29.99 and looks like they are the only option at this time.

That would three losses plus SC would be 4 SEC losses then Uconn, SC, Stanford would make 7

i don't know if they lose to all three of those SEC teams though. I have become accustomed to us beating teams we are supposed to unlike the holly era.

Ole Miss has a lot of weapons and is a very good team. They could have won both games against TN last year. GA the same a very talented team.

True and playing them at their place makes them a lot more dangerous and hard to beat.

You are 100% correct And transfer Angel Baker from wright state is high octane. And to add we don`t even have a guard that can check her she is that good.

They are talented but they are missing their point guard. Connally who allowed Que Morrison to do what she did... people are also underestimating the loss of Maya Caldwell who was a full time starter last year and started most of her games the year before. Those were two sound players missing out the lineups.

Ole Miss is talented. That is why I included them in the 4 possible SEC losses. I am glad we have Dye to counteract their athleticism. If the ball handling has improved their pressure won't take as much of a toll. It will be interesting to see how her team progresses missing out on some major pieces that would have propelled her forward.

I agree both teams have talent. The good thing for TN is that they will be more battle tested than those two teams put together with their weak schedules all that talent BOTH of those coaches have been in place long enough to have schedules that challenged their teams more. At least they will have a good record coming out of the Out of conference schedule.

Beg to differ if Rae made Rhynes life hell. She is one of the top guards in the country and i believe Horston can defend as well. If Walker locks in she can make things difficult too. Then we have Kaiya who once she gets to SEC will have guarded some of the best guards and a lot of different schemes. That's the plus about what Kellie is doing she is scheduling for March unlike some of her SEC peers.

I'm riding with the LVs 😎

I know your also an UNC fan/follow them do you think these injuries give Banghart some cushion/excuse. Some of their fans are NOT impressed with her. She still has a number 3 class so i'm still looking for growth and a step forward myself. She at least can plan to not have them throughout the year unlike an injury impacting her once the season has begun.

I get that but GA backcourt is still better then a lot of teams, Also no one should sleep on there frontcourt they have a lot of talent up front 6-5 Staiti , 6-4 Davenport 6-3 Bates , 6-2 Nicholson, 6-5 Hollingshead, As for Ole Miss we better be able to handle the rock because the ball pressure will be on display like last year. And one bad matchup that hurt TN Rae can not defend 6-1 Snudda Collins she lit Rae up will need to switch that matchup. When we play them i bet the house KJh will not go deep into the bench because for the matchup problems we face against them. As for there schedules i get it, it is what it is.
