Tennessee & Nico Iamaleava are in active contract negotiations ahead of the 2025 season

I once had a boss who was convinced everyone was out to get her. No one was. But her paranoia and its effects ultimately became a self-fulfilling prophecy, and she got herself fired - through no one's actions but her own.

Same kind of thing is happening here, in my opinion. When people in our fanbase lose their minds over an unsourced article and start hurling insults at a QB who may well have done nothing to deserve it, our fans may end up causing a problem where there wasn't one.
The fact people are so quick to turn on a mediocre QB, tells that there are some bigger issues lurking under the surface. Lot of people want to see Nico gone, because secretly they kinda want the season to maybe be a disaster so it forces a house cleaning. The Ohio State playoff embarrassment to end the season has shaken peoples confidence in Heupel.

Nico should have transferred on to Miami when they wanted him back in January. It would have started the dominos to falling and would have led to Heupel being on the hot seat where he rightfully belongs, instead of probably winning 8 games and selling everyone on some more false hope for the next season

Dude the second we ran out without shirts on… I looked at my buddies and said we just lost
That was the stupidest/fake tough guy thing you could do… it’s their home stadium.. like who were we trying to be. Shame on Josh for letting that happen honestly. That’s not being focused on the prize and it showed
Heupel runs a loose ship.

I could copy and paste your post as my own thoughts.

Haul ass small ass… Just don’t see the hype he had 😞.. I still think he’s talented but also believe that Merk is making a turn and I feel like some of us are getting tired listening to “negotiations” for relatively standard play so far

Letting a QB's Dad and people continue to hold your coaching staff and team hostage (if this is even true) won't tank a season? This isn't just an NIL thing, this isn't happening with every player. This is a highly touted QB who got ridiculous money before he stepped foot on campus whose Dad/handlers have now twice pulled this stunt. A highly touted and highly paid QB who hasn't lived up to the hype or the money as if yet. At some point you call their bluff and are willing to ride it out without him. IF the reports are true.

It’s a moot point as it’s already been proven it was a clickbait article anyways

Most likely record if Nico stays 9-3

If he goes, 8-4. Are all these shenanigans worth the extra win? The
extra win could possibly mean the diff. in making the CFP.

Rittenberg has Iamaleava ranked as the eighth best quarterback in college football this spring, which lands him as the fourth best in the SEC behind LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier (3), Oklahoma’s John Mateer (4), and South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers (5). Former Georgia turned Miami quarterback Carson Beck lands one spot ahead of Iamaleava at No. 7, but the Tennessee signal caller does notably come in ahead of Georgia Tech’s Haynes King (9), Florida’s DJ Lagway (10), and Texas’s Arch Manning (12).

I just hope fans realize this stuff trickles down. At the end of the day, it's coming out of the fanbase's pockets one way or another.

Ticket prices, talent fee, maybe up the lukewarm beer to $25 per can, Neyland ozone intake fee, perhaps a "just because we can" fee.

The university knows how passionate our fans are, and they'll pick your wallets clean for it. When they announced the talent fee, they basically sold it to us as, "winning comes at a price, so pay us more money and we'll maybe possibly potentially hypothetically theoretically and perhaps win the SEC once every 30-40 years after paying several hundred million to several hundred players over the course of those decades."
Talent fee, etc. are part of the upcoming revenue sharing (22%). Football/Basketball revenues covers the cost of basically all the other programs can't expect to give up 22% and maintain the status quo.

Just to be on the same page these increase have nothing to do with NIL.

Smells like damage control.
100% it is. They (either he or his family) have already pulled this crap once. It's just gonna keep happening and he won't be the only player. Until they come up with some kind of contract system that works across the board, this will keep happening and it will only continue to run college sports in to the ground.

Your first paragraph is the dumbest ish that’s been posted in quite sometime. We all know you are a loser. But try and drag others into your loser dome tin foil conspiracies.

Heupel caved to Boo Carter. So he will cave to Nico I would bet.

This is the dumbest post I’ve read in some time on here. It had to be intentional. Nobody can be this stupid or you’re trolling.

Let him walk. These kids are already getting a free education, plus millions of dollars per year. They don’t deserve any more than that. Especially when you haven’t proven you’re worth the original NIL deal. Entitlement is getting carried away with these kids.

I used to follow spring practice and have driven up to several Orange/ white games. Each year I would get to at least 1 home game in Neyland until resale ticket prices made it unaffordable. Now, with so many players constantly changing teams, who knows if these guys will even be here this fall. Pay Nico,
Don't pay Nico, I still say "GO Vols" but at this point my desire to even care is on life support!

My God some of y'all are such drama queens. Did you even read the article? We have this gem where he says it MAY or MAY NOT impact whether he enters the portal. Wow thanks for bringing us such in-depth details! Nowhere in the article does it say Nico is considering leaving but we have tards in here saying "ok bye!" You think his NIL deal is not going to be evaluated each year? This is likely standard for nil deals which are year to year.

Pete Nakos of On 3 reported Thursday the Volunteers and Iamaleava are undergoing "active contract negotiations ahead of the 2025 season" that may or may not "impact whether he enters the spring transfer portal."

Now we have a huge portion of our fan base that looks stupid from overreacting to a post meant to induce clicks and rage and then dogging our QB that's been nothing but all orange since he's been here and had a great attitude the entire time.
