Tennessee Not A Blip On The Radar

Really? If he's going to make his living at UT recruiting "leftovers," and succeed, surely he would have found some good LSU leftovers in the talent-rich state of Louisiana, yes? His eye for talent would result in at least a little bit of a talent upgrade from the last guy, right? How'd that work out?
According to La Tech fans it did. I imagine USM would agree right now.

LSU fans seem to think he can recruit.

Saban thinks he knows talent.

I know you know more than those folks do... but I'll wait and see just the same.

Yeah, not like I've been talking about Georgia this entire time or anything...

But we need to go after and get the best players in Georgia. We're not going to win by settling for the leftovers.
According to people who seem to know what they're talking about, Neal, Rogers, AJ Johnson, Coleman, Randolph, and Posey are/were among the best players in GA.

So? Why can't Georgia be like that for us?

I hope and believe that UT can have a relationship with GA like OU's with Texas. I've said that for awhile but it requires some investment. You have to focus on the state and develop relationships with schools and coaches. Dooley and his staff seem to be doing that far more than Kiffin or Fulmer did. Kiffin was all over the place and went after the players sometimes in spite of coaches. Fulmer got GA players by default when UGA stank.

DD and staff seem to be trying to develop close relationships with coaches and not just one player from a town but "players" from towns.

People mock the Sapp signing but if that gets UT in the door at Valdosta... he will be worth the scholarship.

I'm not telling you guys this is going to succeed. I tend to think Kiffin would have succeeded with his methods (barring NCAA sanctions) had he not been such an absolute louse. I still think the odds are about 60/40 against DD being UT's coach in 13. I do think he's adding players that will at least leave that roster better than the one he inherited... so the next guy will at least have a foundation and the job will be more attractive.

Just because he isn't doing it like Kiffin doesn't mean he won't get or help get UT back to where we want them.

There were 11 4-5* players in that class. He inherited 4 that were committed to UT... not Fulmer or Kiffin.

So? He obviously still evaluated them and decided that guys like Schofield were worthy of scholarships. He got rid of guys like Phillips because he thought they were trash. In both of those two cases, he was right.

OMG, Nick Saban said something nice about him! I'd imagine he would do the same for Will Muschamp or Jimbo Fisher, but that doesn't make them good coaches.

With Neal and Rogers, Dooley just had to keep from looking like an idiot in over his head. As long as he could appear at least semi-competent, the work was already done for him. As for the rest of those guys, you listed the #12 player in Georgia and a bunch of guys in the 30s and 40s. Randolph is underrated, sure, but none of those guys are as good as you're making them sound. Most of them are leftovers, unlike last year.

Kiffin may have pissed coaches off or whatever, but he still got the players.

Of course he will "help us improve." We have, what, 65 players? Filling out the roster and being less dumb than Fulmer isn't that difficult.

And probably wrong on Boyd, Thigpen, and Green.

No. And your diatribes don't make anyone a bad coach either... It is just that Saban has a tad more credibility than you do.

Wow... that is just pure ol' denial. The guy did a great job with those guys. Not good, GREAT.
As long as he could appear at least semi-competent, the work was already done for him.
That is so ridiculous it isn't funny. ALL OF THE WORK that had been done went out the window when CLK bolted. The ONLY thing left was their familiarity with the school. Dooley had to completely build trust in him in 2.5 weeks.

Only one of which CLK is responsible for.

Kiffin may have pissed coaches off or whatever, but he still got the players.
Did I say he didn't? This may not be an either/or. It could be BOTH you know? There is more than one way to do something... though I know your allegiance to Kiffin may make that difficult for you to believe.

Guy, just get over him. He's gone. Give the next guy a chance before you condemn him.

Of course he will "help us improve." We have, what, 65 players? Filling out the roster and being less dumb than Fulmer isn't that difficult.

Then what is your complaint?

Kiffin leaving set the rebuilding process back. He might have gotten there in 11 or 12. Dooley either does it in 12 IMO or someone else gets a shot in 13. Two years lost because Kiffin was disloyal... that's about the size of it.

I am concerned that dooley seems to be taking the la tech recruiting approach that he used. Take the left overs and take the path of least resistance; if they want to come we will take them, but if it requires working them, we seem to be lax. Also it seems the approach is let's see how fast we can get this over with. He does not seem to approach recruiting as importantly as it is. Whatever happens GBO.
