When Pearl gets some inside presence to open up the 3's even more I'd expect UT to start making the tourney annually.
After what I saw Saturday, anything really is possible.

UT gets caught reading (and believing) their own press.
OSU -- a bunch
UT -- not so many
But, this is good for you. UT gets into the tourney as a #6 seed.

Actually, that is an incorrect assumption. The UTK players usually watch game film of their previous game, but when Pearl asked them if they wanted to watch the Texas tape the next day the players said "no" because they wanted to go ahead and watch Ok State game film to get ready for their next game. That might seem like a small circumstance, but in terms of mind set it is a huge indicator of this teams focus. Most teams that just manhandled the #6 team in the country would want to sit and watch the replay the next day. It says a lot that this team didn't want to do that. Texas game was over, and they are focused on Ok State.

I love this team....we will be more prepared than Oklahoma State...we'll be more prepared than probably all of our opponents this year

I get the same feeling. We will probably get outclassed by many opponents before it's all said and done, but I don't think Pearl will ever let us have a lack of desire or lack of preparation - and that's saying a lot for our men's b-ball program.

More prepared than an Eddie Sutton coached team? I don't know about that.

I'd rather have Pearl then Eddie Sutton as my coach.

I think Coach Pearl is a rising star, but Sutton is on his way to finishing in the top 5 in all-time victories. If you're taking age into account, I agree with you. However, Coach Pearl has a long way to go in matching Sutton's resume'.

Northwestern State also won at Mississippi State. Don't sleep on teams from the Southland Conference.

Mississippi State sucks
Agreed. But Northwestern State also almost won at Missouri and Wichita State. Missouri isn't very good, Wichita State is a solid MVC team. Northwestern State is better than your usual small conference sacrificial lamb.

I am still in shock at how good UT looked against Texas on Saturday, but it's not reasonable to expect them to play on that level (especially without a trip back home between games) on Thursday against Oklahoma State. Eddie Sutton will have the Cowboys ready to play. It's pretty much a toss-up in my mind, at this point. I think the margin of victory will be in single digits.

I hope there's no emotional letdown on this team after the Texas game. Pearl must realize that we're looking at 10-0 going into conference play if we get by Okla. St. At that point, 8-8 in the SEC with an assumed non-conference loss to Memphis puts us at 18-9 and squarely on the bubble going into the SEC tournament. A win and a loss there puts us at 19-10, and that should be good enough to get into the Big Dance as a #10-#12 seed. Not bad at all, considering that before the season started, we were all pretty much posting that a trip to the NIT this year would be a great success.

i dont think that if we get the 3s banging, then osu does not have the fire power to keep up. 83-72 Vols
