Tennessee ranked 5th in AP poll, yet…..

Three seed but a two seed means we would’ve replaced Duke most likely. I rather be in this region Vs Duke’s.
Each possession is critical during the dance and you can’t allow inferior teams to hang around. With that said, we should advance to sweet 16 unless we get into early foul trouble or play poor basketball (turnovers, bad defense or below 30% from field goal).

I just hate that not only did we get a 3 but we still draw Arizona and Nova?

WTF

Like they spit on us and then kicked us in the nuts for good measure

I’m not saying your wrong. Each will have certain advantages and disadvantages.

However if Tennessee wins their first game they “might” have to play the 24th ranked team in the country……in the round of 32.

Duke will face a Mich ST or Davidson which is 36th and 41 in the NET.

Then if they were to survive (and it plays out) Duke would play the 12th ranked team in the sweet 16

However Tennessee would have to play the 6th ranked team in the sweet 16.

That’s a HUGE difference

Get it done on the court and none of this matters

While I do agree however when you’ve gotten it done pretty much an entire season…….you shouldn’t be forced to play the #6 team in the country in the sweet 16.

Accordingly Nova as a 2 seed shouldn’t have to face the #5 team in the country in the sweet 16.

Especially given 2 seed Duke would (if it played out) face the #12 team.

And Auburn would face the 14th ranked team.

To be the man you have to beat the man. Cinderella teams do it why can't a loaded Tennessee team do it.

they can

Not sure people are saying they can’t…….that’s not the point…..and I’m not “just” talking about Tennessee.

“To be the man” you should only be forced to take the same road as everyone else.

You had just said “get it done on the court”…….the fact is they did. As a result two of the top 6 teams will face each other in the sweet 16. No other bracket has 2 top 6 teams in it period.

I believe Tennessee will get it done……but acting like it doesn’t matter is dumb talk.

Absolutely agree with this and since CBS/TBS/TNT is doing the NCAA tournament games, we don't have to listen to Jimmy Dykes anymore this season!
Jimmy Dykes= Tool....I watch games that he does with sound muted he never shuts up nonstop blabbering and extremely annoying.... Go Vols....

Barne’s problem has always been that he can’t get it done in the tournament. The committee knows that and they took that into their consideration. Last time we were a 3 seed we lost in the 2nd round when we had a super easy path to the Final 4. Barnes has made 3 tournaments at UT and his record is 3-3, every loss to a lower seed.

You would prefer Texas Tech and Gonzaga, or Wisconsin and Kansas, or Baylor and Purdue? Cause those would have been the alternative. I think zona is the weakest of the top seeds and Villanova may be the weakest of the 2s.

You don't know what the selection committee factored into consideration. It's highly unlikely that Rick Barnes' history played a role. Sometimes the conference tournament results matter, and sometimes they don't. There is no consistency here.

problem is “you” actually believe this.

This is a new team with new players which have shown they “can” get it done. Not saying they will……because the road is treacherous….and only 1 wins.

Two years Tennessee went out when they certainly shouldn’t…….and two years their “big” was unable to play…….heck the later they had virtually no other reliable option.

Also you “might” want to say you think…..instead of stating something as a fact.

Barnes is very respected…..I highly doubt the committee will give his team a lower seed because they have lost in the past.

also last year Illinois was a 1 seed and got bounced in the round of 32 by Loyola……..that certainly didn’t effect Illinois seed this year……nor should it have.

The seedings don’t really matter. If we play our game and not get ahead of ourselves, we can beat everyone in the tournament on any given night. We’ve proven that this season. Let’s just take one game at a time, and play to our strengths.

A guy with 7x Sweet 16s, 3x Elite 8s, and a Final Four “always” can’t get it done in the tournament? Stop posting.

Have you ever considered that he’s managed to get his teams over seeded? Do you remember Fulk and Alexander being injured immediately before those loses? Just. Stop. Posting.

I would absolutely prefer Baylor/Purdue or Wisconsin/Kansas by a smaller margin.

I think Gonzaga and Texas Tech would have been more rough, but overall we got a bad draw

yea KY has it laid out on a silver platter…….if they can just take advantage.

Purdue has NO defense. They have a huge big……but man he can’t move they should get taken advantage of.

To me about the best in that bracket is UCLA and Murray ST………..I know Baylor is good but for KY that game would be a long way off…….and I’m not certain Baylor will be there.

That looks to be the easy route to me………there’s always some surprises though.

I think it’s a pretty good draw comparatively speaking, at least looking at it to make an Elite 8.

Our potential matchups…
14 Longwood 3/4
6 Colorado State 4/4
11 Michigan 2/4
2 Villanova 2/4
7 Ohio State 2/4
10 Loyola Chicago 2/4

Loyola and Villanova are the only Top 25 KenPom teams we’d face

Obviously your most probably path to an E8 is…

14…we got the best draw for a 14
6 or 11…as a 6 not sure I would rather play Texas/LSU/Bama. As a 11 we might have drawn the toughest opponent but even if that’s who it is that’s weaker than the other 6’s.
2…we couldn’t draw Kentucky or Auburn so it was Nova or Duke, I think Nova is the choice there.
