Tennessee requests 30 day extension

That's not how this feels to me.

This feels to me more like the legal firm hired by UT is milking it for all they can get. They asked UT to ask for an extension. More billable hours, you see.

Now, what they said to UT to make UT agree, I don't know. But one thing is for sure: lawyers almost always suck. And that's when they're on your side.

Nothing to worry about in this, I don't think. Other than lawyers suck.

Go Vols!

Sadly, if W revocations are in the cards, it'll be a lot more than 3. It'll probably be the entire 2019 and 2020 seasons. So 8 + 3 = 11 wins vacated. Because the investigaion revealed the payoffs started as early as September 2018. Which means the kids being paid were on the team for both 2019 and 2020. And some of the lads who suspiciously left with Pruitt, they played in every single one of those games.
As a lawyer myself, I take offense to that…but you’re right. Most of us are the worst

I just don’t see much of anything coming from this. Tennessee self-reported. We took many appropriate steps, got rid of everyone, reduced scholarships, etc. on top of that…we our currently captivating the casual fans. A team that has been down, now making a serious run and with a incredibly fun to watch offense. Don’t think that doesn’t matter, the NCAA isn’t going to hurt themselves by going overboard on punishment to a big time draw. We get fined, and maybe lose some recruiting days.

As a lawyer, I've met some colleagues who are some of the finest human beings on Earth and I've met some real scumbags. Broad brushes are just that. Lawyers are humans...they come with all the warts and wonderful traits that other humans come with.

Yeah, but I want you to guess. ;)

I think they will add something to what UT self imposed. We took scholarship reductions and took less recruiting visits. My guess is they add something else. One might be a probationary period. Could take more schollies. Reduced visits. Loss of victories when players played that were paid during Pruiits time.

I dont see post season issues as that hass been stated by too many.

Wow….

I suspect that this extension was requested in an attempt to delay any decision until after the bowl/playoff season.

This seems relevant. Or, does this only cover the period after which NIL became policy, and before this communication? Our issues occurred before NIL.

Interesting. Many on here have said the NCAA is done and they have no power anymore. So why should this matter?

Tennessee alone cannot stand up to NCAA but there was a situation recently where the SEC Commissioner went at the NCAA about not having to tight of penalties on LSU and Ole Miss (I think both were more related to Basketball).

If the SEC tells the NCAA to take a hike, there is literally nothing the NCAA can do.

I am thinking vacating wins....there is no bowl ban...NCAA really went away from that because it was punishing people not involved....

I do not see how they further restrict scholarships...heck, we still are not at full strength, I believe...

Possibly longer probation period? Depending upon the length, I feel that is okay because we have the right people in place now.

Yeah, NCAA has been moving away from Post Season Bans anyways because it punishes the wrong parties in many instances. It was always a stupid punishment.

Lol if they tell Tennessee no tv, they will instantly get told to FK off. They will not give up that kind of money. That would be the final nail in the coffin for the NCAA.
They should've told the NCAA to piss off a while back after all involved were purged from the organization..

f*** the NCAA. Nothing but a bunch useless do nothings making bank off the backs of others.... IMHO, of course..

Thanks for guessing. Your is more educated than most. I'd be fine with a "probationary period" in which we can't screw up again.

You bring up a good point...Tennessee returning to elite helps tremendously. The NCAA hates punishing the cash cows. And the ESPNs of the world hate it more. They carry weight.

Yup. I said it in an earlier post also, look at our TV ratings this year.

Granted the Vols are a pull in and off themselves, but add in an offense lighting up everybody? People are watching. A large number of them

The NCAA is really the NC$$. Keeping the money flowing is job 1, job 2, and job 3.

We are bringing the $$. Simple enough.
