I think the university leadership are probably pleased with the law firm that has done most of the heavy lifting over the past year and a half. Expensive, I'm sure, but seems like they've done a thorough job, and have done it in a way that protects the University's interests, and those of our student-athletes.
The process was always going to drag on. I mean, this is the NCAA still, right?
But at least it is dragging on in a way that minimizes pain to us and ours.
- We're not getting a bowl ban, or any type of post-season ban.
- We're not sacrificing any more scholarships than we already have.
- We may pay a fine. Probably will. The NCAA loves $$.
- Pruitt & some assistants will likely have long show causes.
- We will probably have to vacate wins. I confess I do have my fingers crossed that there wasn't quite enough evidence to clearly implicate enough of the lads that we have to vacate all 11 from 2019 and 2020. I really, REALLY don't want to fall behind Georgia and out of the Top 10 all time. Maybe the players confirmed to have accepted money were backups and redshirts in 2019, and we escape just giving up a few Ws.
A fella can hope.
Go Vols!
