It wasn't the camera angle. Brian tweeted after the game that during the "rain" delay the coaches were hot at the umpire. So it was not just the fans. Yes those inside "strikes" hurt but he would also give the outside and low to their pitchers a lot. After the first few innings we had to chase which is never a good thing. Ashley was a boss and at this point in her career she is mainly her own pitching coach. Ideally she won't throw again this weekend though she probably will. Need to pick up the hitting and we won't have to worry about it. P.S. I am usually watching the softball on the big tv and baseball on the Ipad. Baseball will be fine in the end though the fielding errors and running mistakes have to get better. All that is fixable if the players are willing to do it.Just some random thoughts.
Agree that Rogers was instrumental in the decision to return after the rain delay. If Karen had said no, Rogers probably enters the portal (kidding of course). Someone asked why Karen would let her go back out if she was going to pull her with two outs. She pulled her because the wild pitch ended the chance to get a shutout. Once the shutout was lost and the umpire lost his ability to call a strike it was time to let Rogers sit.
Was it the camera angle or was the home plate umpire that bad? The called first strike and sometimes second strike on all our players looked a foot inside and low.
@kregman THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO. I used to only watch softball but since Coach Vitello has revitalized the baseball program, I switch back and fourth. I rely on your updates especially updated scoring. Greatly apprciated.
Someone asked if Pickens would start today as she was hit hard twice last night. In my opinion, it appeared the umpire had decided to let A&M back in the game with his questionable calls. Pickens knew that and lasered two or three strikes right down the middle of the plate. That want happen to day.
Very Sorry A. Roger's did not get a no-hitter or a shutout. But I will remember that effort the rest of my life. Just incredible!
The weekly's have always focused on the NCAA National Tournament. Seeing Kayla Brough tout her four or five rings the other day ( in the ESPN throw back Saturday broadcast) reinforced to me we are fighting for the SEC Championship and A. Rogers wants one ring for her five years. Win the SEC regular season championship and then let's worry about what's next.
