Whoever said, can't remember now. If they win the conference they should be shoo-in for a top 8 seed.I’d like to see Ashley vs Baylor and Payton vs Mercer Thursday, that would give Ashley extra day of rest before VA Tech. Then Ryleigh vs Mercer and Karlyn vs Baylor. If we want top 8 seed we need to win these four games. Wins against Mercer wouldn’t do much but Baylor would be quality wins.
I would as well and suspect that will happen!I’d like to see Ashley vs Baylor and Payton vs Mercer Thursday, that would give Ashley extra day of rest before VA Tech. Bummer. No chance?
The post you quoted is mostly correct, the only correction I’d make is that the usual TV truck UT hires is working another event, but that event is also for UT. They’re hosting their only home track meet of the year, so it is getting the broadcast treatment Thursday-Saturday.
UT has really stepped up its game this year, I believe Thursday and Friday will be the only baseball or softball games this year that won’t feature a TV-quality broadcast of some type. So you’re stuck with me for the only broadcast.
UT only has one control room to produce broadcasts, they have to hire a TV truck and crew if there are multiple events at the same time. They were scheduled to do all four games on SECN+, but the baseball series vs. Florida was moved to Thursday-Saturday and UT is obligated to provide its production room and equipment to produce those games for linear TV, per the SEC/ESPN TV contract. By the time baseball was moved, the production unit they normally hire to do games when there is a conflict was committed to another event.
After we beat ESPN.Com's #22 ranked Baylor twice this week and Mercer (not to be overlooked) twice as well, we will need to vanquish ESPN.COM's #17 Virginia Tech on Tuesday next week. I trust we will be ready. Incredible schedule!
Then it's back to the gauntlet that is SEC competition. Currently (obviously that could change) Georgia seems to be our main competion for the regular season championship.
We currently have three advantages over Georgia.
(1) Georgia has a Wx cancelation that occurred at Mississippi State. So, we only have to match their record in the loss column to win the championship by %.
(Advantage Tennessee)
(2) Geogia and Tennessee both have four three game SEC series remaining going into this weekend. Tn has two series at home, (South Carolina and Florida) and two on the road (Kentucky and Arkansas).
Georgia has three on the road (Arkansas, Florida and LSU) and one at home (South Carolina).
(Advantage Tennessee)
(3) Tennessee has a reprieve from SEC play this weekend. Georgia does not as they travel to Arkansas (I think) . To me this is like going into overtime in college football and we just won the coin flip and chose defense. Let's see what we have to match. Georgia does not get their break until the last series. A weekend off before they travel to LSU.
(Advantage Tennessee)
Let's win a conference regular season championship. Hopefully that will spring board us to tournament, regional, super regional ( in Knoxville) and College World Series Championships. We have all the pieces. We just need a little luck and good health going forward.
I also agree about the team’s overall hitting not good at times. This has the same vibe as down the stretch with last years teams hitting problems. So far this year’s difference has been we have capitalize on team’s mistakes rather than teams capitalizing on our mistakes like years past. Not having the girls struggling with speed try bunting or bunting to move runners is still an head scratcher because I wouldn’t consider this current roster a home run hitting roster. With a couple of key players in and out of the lineup because of injury and a couple key players out for the season the team’s hitting depth has been noticeable lacking at times and not what was expected on paper before the season started. But the key difference is with a healthy Rodgers we can win any game and the team plays that way with Rodgers in the circle. Hang on ladies and gentlemen and get prepared for Ashley’s last stand. I think the best is yet to come and she’s going to throw the team on her back all the way to the WCWS.None of this will matter if UT cannot hit above .215
Jumped right in with plenty of strong takes. Good for you!I also agree about the team’s overall hitting not good at times. Ding, Ding we got a winner. I like this lineup. It’s very similar to what the falls lineup was and the reason everyone was excited about the hitting. Don’t know why a change from the fall to spring. Only disagreement I would have with this lineup is Katie hitting in the 2 spot, she’s got one of the worst averages on the team. She’s got to be in the lineup with current roster but at the 9 spot. Kiki finally got moved back to lead off and should’ve been there all year. This spreads everyone throughout the lineup and doesn’t bunch everyone at the top. A lot of averages were high early in the year because the lack of strong teams they faced early and now with SEC competition you are starting to see who can hit and who can’t.Batting order I'd like to see one time,
