Tennessee Softball 2023

I thought the home-plate umpire was good today. He had a solid zone and he was very consistent with it.
I think he missed a couple of calls--nice pitches on the outside corner that he called balls, including IMO a sure outside corner
3rd strike against Gibson before she hit her 2nd homer of the game (!)---but overall he was good.

Totally dominant performance at the plate and on the mound. When was the last time we had 3 good starters? Never?

Did they say that on TV? I expect it to happen, but she’s been pretty tight-lipped on it, from what I understand. She isn’t planning on saying anything until after the season.
Nothing official but Karen said she had been accepted into grad school and hoped she would go into law and being a sports agent. I guess she could transfer but don’t see that happening. The vibe was she is going to play next year.

The last time was probably 2013 before Gabriel re-injured her hip. People forget how good she looked that season behind Ellen and Ivy before she was injured.

But it’s rare, not just for Tennessee. If you watched Rally Cap on SEC Network Sunday night, you heard Amanda Scarborough talking about how this was not only possibly the best staff in the country, but one of the most complete pitching staffs she’s ever seen in college softball. That’s a pretty good sign for where we go from here.

Sort of off topic, but every time I tune in to a nationally televised TN softball game, the visitors get run-ruled. How can this be?

You should continue to tune in quite often. We’ll take any advantage we can! I have two questions: Why on a telecast do we always get the other team broadcasters and in non televised games do we have page after page of comments with no one giving the game score which is frustrating to me.

You can always find reasonably up-to-date scores on line.

I’ll get tarred and feathered for saying this, but I find them very easily on ESPN.com.

I haven't given much thought to outright winning the conference since the postseason is the most important, but with Oklahoma coming into the conference it would be nice to win one outright now. I do think we will drag Oklahoma back as a conference, but it will still be tough to beat then while Gasso is there.

Be glad we get any TV though softball has really risen in popularity. It is a cost cutting measure rarely are the announcers on site any more unless it is on the main network, and when they are they think it is more about them than the game most of the time.

I don't get it either
I'm sure it is SOS but if it comes down to us and them our sweep of at their place would have to play into that. Of course they played Oklahoma and we had the loses to Baylor didn't help.
I updated the original post. Now it's got SOS

That's happened with LSU in the past. In 2021 they were seeded 7th because of their SOS despite not having beaten very many of the top opponents they played. WTBS, they're not going to be the highest tournament seed in the SEC, lol.

Looking at the schedule for remaining games for those contending for regular season title ,the Lady Vols need to win 6 of the 9 remaining games to insure the title.....that is doable.

That means leave a Lady Vol site that is discussing the game in progress to check a score when posters on here are too busy typing players‘ names to give score updates? Seems to be a simple thing to give scores during a game.

You can open a second window. Play-by-play on here would clutter up the discussion IMO.

I'll try, I think the link will give an update, at least the statbroadcast does.
