Tennessee Softball 2023

Looking in the rearview mirror, HSC Weekly might should have signed pitcher Rylan Smith (Nolensville, TN), who is now a freshman at WKU and led TN H.S. with 377 K's last season. Any opinions on that ?
Hard throwing pitcher in a weak Nashville area, massive numbers. Got exposed in the bigger games against better teams. 15 runs in two games at state in her two losses.

She’s in a good spot at WKU. Who knows, if she develops and gets experience …then who knows with the portal.

This has to be rock bottom, elite travel ball teams don’t have tryouts. Not a good look trying to find players walking the halls….
Definitely sad. No matter how much I dislike a team I don’t think having to publicly release that you are in need of pitchers and catchers is ever good for any program, especially one like Florida. I wonder if they will try and look at either pitchers in other divisions, juco, etc. This reminds me of 2019 Oregon when pretty much half of their roster were walk-ons

We are an injury away. They have the benefit of two of the best freshman pitchers coming in Rothrock and Brown. You don’t want to put the season on their shoulders. Surprised Sam Roe (C) transferred who early enrolled and skipped her SR year.

Is it sad--or something they do regularly to perhaps find a diamond in the rough? There are quite a lot of good athletes around in all sports who for various reasons are not playing on a college team--or their college team. It's an easy and quick way to take a look at a lot of potential players, and costs nothing. Given how lousy our women's basketball recruiting as been, I could see Harper doing this.....

It could be politics.

Really? You hang around as an expert to occasionally interject an LV nega comment? Begone Bitch!

Recruiting hasn't been perfect in women's basketball, but lousy certainly isn't true either. The roster has seven top fifty ranked players in their class and another top fifty for 2024 and another for 2025. We certainly need to do more and I think the next class will have another couple top players come here time will tell.

Achieving toward a FF would help tremendously.

Fun and a little known fact, all D1 teams are required to have walk-on tryouts and are required to “publicize“ those on campus. It’s an old and a little-known rule, but it’s a thing. Most schools teams do not widely publicize them on Twitter like this, but many do.

Florida isn’t going to find a pitcher that is going to help them overall, but they could absolutely find someone with some talent to create depth or be another arm to throw BP in practice. With all of the softball playing junior colleges in the state, there’s bound to be a few kids that gave up the dream that might be able to fill a role like Sam Bender did for them last year.

Goodloe was on campus at the right time …instant runner.

What was the deal with Goodloe, just fast? or did she play sports before?
Played JUCO at Chipola …called it quits after playing for Hendrix married couple that was fired from ETSU. Came home…not a solid softball player, but can run as good as anyone and was enrolled. Played at Bearden High School. Probably missed her calling in track as even as a young kid if the ball made it to the outfield she was on 3B or inside the park HR.

Sister played at Maryville College

Where is it required that college and universities are required to have and or publicize them.
