Normally when a coach has to sell everyone on a player and NOT there play selling them as a player, it’s fools gold. Not even in the same ballpark as a player as Shipman and Gregg. Those comments were so disrespectful for the legends that truly earned that status and weren’t just given to them.

I thought it was too early for those words. Didn’t see them in the fall but we had many here praising her as a starter. She was a gamer in travel but it’s an adjustment no matter the skill level.

So did the LV's .They are not the # 2 team in the country .It is possible that they will be but they need to prove it thru some hitting against good pitchers and continue to have good sustained pitching .

Didn't see TX game but the pitching and D is holding up well against the good teams. Hopefully that's 2 areas that will not be an issue this season. Who would have guessed the best hitters from last season are looking like freshmen with a deer in the headlights look. That's a head scratcher for sure.

Shame on me for buying into Karen's over the top hype of Faw without ever seeing her play. Guess I just really wanted her to be right. Maybe next season she will be ready.

When’s the time we start to question the hitting coach? The last 3 years the team has had the pitching and the bats went cold down the stretch and now this year the team is cold to start the season. Normally the beginning of the season the hitting stats are better because to start the season the hitters are ahead of the pitchers. The pitching was the question how the season will go but I think so far the pitchers came ready to accept that challenge but the hitters are nowhere to be seen so far against the better pitching. Minus the UTEP and KSU games the team hasn’t hit.

Seems year 1 was his best year..he was conforming majority of the hitters for more power. Last year, got away with the warmup split grip drill approach and this year is off to a slow start for deep ball and production.

Good points. Remember year 1 was a short year, He came in over right before Fall so not typical off season for change. So realistically a lot of that year was still Marc Weekly hitting.

I would be more concerned if the pitching was bad but compared to other teams we are in good shape there. Hitting will come around when some warm up, some are moved out of lineup for awhile. Kiki has not looked like this since she was a freshman that will not last. Faw who I have not really seen up close with better cameras looks like a kid playing. The problem is playing Sec and top teams you are playing against full grown women. Needs time in the weight room and experience and she may come on any time too.

I added another column that was not included in your stats. I am a BIG fan of Kiki, but it's not typical that your leadoff hitter would also be leading the team in strikeouts. And out of her 5 hits, 4 of them came against UT Arlington and Kennesaw State, so outside of those 2 games she is 1 for 14 for a .071 batting average.

As I mentioned in the game thread yesterday, if she doesn't start hitting you should consider sitting her for a game or two so it doesn't significantly mess with her head (maybe she has a minor injury or something), or at least move her down in the lineup.

And there are some other ladies... Allanah and Brock... that should perhaps be seeing some more at bats.
