Tennessee @ Texas A&M Game 2 Thread - 3pm SECN+

I disagree that he has lost this team. You don't play so many close games without fighting. I said it after Wednesday night this weekend offense is just struggling but only giving up 5 runs in 2games isn't a team that has quit.

Maybe lost is a poor choice of words, but we can't get out of our own way. And it feels like we are finding different ways to lose games at this point. Idk I might be better off just not posting in here the rest of the year because my frustration has hit its peak.

I got in my car after game and started driving to TX airport. Sat in parking lot for a while. Turned around and checked back into hotel. I do not want boys to stop fighting. So I am not stopping either. Let go vols.

Going to get a big hunk of TX meat to eat and get ready for tomorrow's game.

The Vols have only scored 12 runs in the previous 5 SEC Sundays. Total!

I have watched every game this year!!! I honestly think Currie has to fire Serrano now!!! He needs to send a message to every coach at the complex that he isn't playing around!!! If you don't win you are gone!!! I've said since Serrano has been here our players looks like kids compared to the rest of the SEC!! Again this year we might limp in to the sec tournament and then get beat first game!!! I live in Birmingham and go to the tournament every year be nice to actually be competitive.....

nah...it will get better...gotta be patient...until then...just be a crazy VOLFAN like me...damn the torpedoes...:crazy::pepper::pepper::yahoo::yahoo:

GO BIG ORANGE!

Just finished watching the replay...the 4th inning might be the best Stallings has pitched all year. Neely did the job, one of his best performances this year as well, in terms of pitching at the pace he pitched at last year...

The young guys are doing their best, certainly some "frosh moments" (the fielding errors by Stallings/Andre...but...

Luc is a walk on and giving his all...

They have every reason to quit, but I'm not buying that they have AND...in the last two games pitching isn't the problem, timely hitting IS.

Admittedly, I'm still trying to catch up on what is happening in terms of the off field issues and if there's a bunch of stuff happening I might change my opinion for sure...but right now, I don't see making a change.

Thanks to everyone for rocking the baseball thread tonight!

GBO!!!

I'm in shock that there is anyone who thinks we shouldn't make a change. This is year freaking 6 and we haven't fielded a competitive team yet. His record is worse than Raleigh's and the off field issues are just as bad.

Just to be clear, I mean no change right now...at the end of season is inevitable, at this point.... and has been.

We have fielded a competitive team. Hence why there are so many close games. We've not fielded a winning team.

And that's not saying a change isn't warranted, either. That's saying that you clearly haven't been paying that much attention if you consider this team as not competitive.

As for the off the field stuff, I can't hang that on DS....even with his own son. Kids sometimes veer off course despite the best efforts of the coach/parent. Even kids from the best homes with every advantage take bad turns. As a coach/parent, you do what you need to do to correct the situation, but there's no guarantee. Can be a very tall mountain to climb. In this regard, I truly feel bad for DS. He's got to be dying inside. Not a stupid man. He's well aware what's likely coming. Frankly, given the lack of support from the admin, I don't think anyone can win consistently at UT. It's a red headed stepchild that gets only casual/token attention every 4-5 years when a coach is fired and it's time to repaint/glue and caulk the old facilities. If I'm the parent of a kid being recruited to play at the SEC level, I don't see a lot UT has to offer. It's been a train wreck for years with Rod's contract years being the noticeable exceptions and no one outside a small group of hardcore fans seems to give a damn.

Can you elaborate on the administration support? What is missing? This has probably been discussed many times and I've missed it.

You still going to stick with your ignorant comment about the team not being competitive?

I get it. We as UT baseball fans now have to be happy with moral victories and the occasional salvaging of a weekend series.

Some of you really don't get it. We are something like 50-100 in Serrano's 6 years in SEC play. That IS NOT competitive. Baseball games are generally close so of course there aren't tons of blow outs.

And some of you are completely ignorant to the game. I'm not saying Serrano needs to be retained, but if you really can't see that this team is better than it has been, and is in every game they play, you have no business voicing an opinion because you don't see anything but the win-loss column.

I've seen this show before with Serrano which is why I'm not impressed. Every other year, we hear that the next one is when we will take the leap. It's time to cut bait. Improvement only matters if you eventually see the results in the W-L column.

6 years to rebuild a program with CWS tradition is far too long.

And I didn't say that next year is definitely going to be the year. However, recruiting has been better, so one could say it is feasible. That being said, I wouldn't be upset if he gets let go. But I'm also not going to say that this team is not competitive, and not better than teams in the past. If you can't see the talent difference in the class as a whole between this year's freshman and those before, I can't help you.

The rest of the SEC keeps getting better too. Better coaches, better facilities, etc. Our marginal improvement and keeping games close isn't good enough. We put out one top 20 recruiting class while 10 other SEC teams put back to back to back top 10-15 classes together.
