Tennessee the new Florida?

The "spread" has become a cliche for every offense that isn't a traditional pro style. That being the case there are several NFL teams running the spread offense now. I like to say we are going to be running a non traditional pro-style offense. Cincinnati under CBJ has been 60-40 run to pass while we have been the opposite. I know people still call it the spread but it just seems like an outdated term. Zone read is better.

I'll admit that when we got Butch I wasn't all in, however after getting over myself and my hatred of all things Florida,I started to see that our offensive skill players actually fit the spread pretty well. I know that Worley played a spread in high school and Peterman looks the part for a running Qb. Pig and or Q. could be our "Percy" style back. Croom could be a very opposing force from the TE position. I hope that Dallas and Bowles can break out this year.

I know that Meyer and Jones don't run the same kind of spread but lets hope that we get the same results.:toast:

Keep dreaming...

In one way you are right. Me thinking that I could come here and discuss Tennessee football and actually doing that was fantasy land. I didn't say we would win a champion ship this year. I said we have players that would work in a spread offense.

I appreciated your take on where Tennessee football could go. Your points were valid and clear to all but a few who are unable to think there way out of a wet paper bag.

A couple of weeks ago I posted similar thread with the won loss records at very similar schools Meyer at Bowling Green & Utah; Jones at CM and Cincy. Pretty much got blasted for making the comparison while intentionally leaving out Jones' 4-8 start at Cincy. Florida trolls especially took exception to comparison to "Saint" Meyer. Expressing any hope that things will get better or that Jones may in fact know how to coach will get you blasted on here. The concensus on VN is that the Vols suck in football and that they always will and anyone saying otherwise is an idiot. Our only hope was to get Gruden and since we didn't its warm bath and razor blade time.:shakehead:

So you fudged stats to get a desired result and someone blasted you. :mega_shok:

I don't care how good they are or if they beat us 100 times in a row, I still don't want to be mentioned in the same sentence with the disgusting university of Florida.

You got blasted for conveniently leaving out Jones' 4-8 season in your comparison, and rightfully so.
Did not "conveniently" leave it out said the 1st season of 4-8 was left out right from top of post. Learn to read before you speak.

This.

The only thing that pisses me off more is comparing us to bammers.

Read the post. Said up front IF 4-8 is left out here is comparison. Didn't fudge anything. Was not looking for a result as you apparently are. You want to believe Jones sucks before his team plays a down that's your right

So Tennessee now has 600 miles of pristine beaches..... cool.

We have 6,000 thousand miles of pristine mountain lake shore line which is beautiful, clean and not crowded. The cool water is flowing from the mountain crests with outstanding boating, fishing and scenic retreats. Actually, Tennessee is much better than Florida will ever be. I guess that is way we have so many retirees who originally moved to Florida and returned half way back to East Tennessee; the land which they call paradise. Being born an East Tennessean, I realize how fortunate I am to have never been forced to live in Florida.

My bosses family used to have a family vacation in fl every year. I finally talked em into a cabin up near Pigeon Forge. They loved it and been doing it two years now.

Altho I really love it up there it's a huge bonus not to have to drive from one end of stinky alabama to the other.

There's a lot of irrational dumb in this thread.

I hate UF too, but it's not anathema to look at our current coaching decisions, apparent future schemes and offensive philosophy, and look at history to see if similar decisions have been successful. Guess what? They have.

My feeling all along has been the SEC East is ripe for a new bully. Let's face it, our team was border-line terrible this year, and we still could have beat Florida, could have beat Georgia, could have beat South Carolina. I know i know ...woulda coulda shoulda. But I guess my point is, just think if we were actually a good team? I think the SEC is ripe for a new coach to come along and take control of this division. Do it Butch!!

Learn to make valid comparisons, and you won't get blasted.

Using your logic UT went undefeated....if you leave out the games they lost. :eek:lol:

I am with you on this goat....

I am so sick of Tennessee trying to be like Florida, or Like Bama, or like LSU or like anyone else.... we are Tennessee...we only need to be TENNESSEE and F the rest of the SEC

Let them chase us for a while........
