Tennessee to pursue Antonio Barton

Yea a poster on VQ the other day said he was told A&M, his coach that recruited him to Memphis is now there. I didn't really ever think A&M had a legit hit but guess I was wrong.

Too bad if true. He could have really given this team a lift. I wonder what his chances of playing time are at A&M?

Never thought I'd miss Griffith. Quinn seems more interested in beer and "song of the day" tweets than hoops. I pay close attention to UT basketball and often I literally forget that he exists.

Well, to his credit, beer is more interesting than UT basketball most of the time.

I would think no way A & M, but I didn't think Wiggins was KS bound. Kids these days seems like they want to steer you in one direction and pull a surprise pick.

It's interesting enough to get a bunch of Memphis fans to post on its message board.

Its like the a little boy pulling a little girls pigtail. He makes fun, but you know he really likes her. MC, just give up the charade and come out of the closet. :)

Who all heard Hubbs say this? I'm not questioning he said it, but curious as to the context and how he said it. Hubbs isn't the basketball guy, so if it was in passing and someone asked his opinion and he simply said "I'm guessing A&M that connection is strong", I wouldn't put at much stock into it. On the flip side, if he gave the ole, he looks like he's going to A&M that is much stronger.

I'm just wondering cause no Maryland people are mentioning A&M and that's where the sources have been, I'm guessing Barron's family, is the Maryland area.

If true it really sucks. We pretty much have one of the best teams we've had in a while and now we have no pg with much experience on the squad.

Didn't one of your original posts say Hubbs also said that he didn't think we would get a visit from him? I looked but I don't see it, I guess you edited it out?

Mark Howard asked him about Barton maybe coming to Tennessee and Brent said he's going Texas A&M and he doubts Tennessee will get a visit from him. At the end he said, things could always change. Gave himself a little wiggle room. I would think he would been fed that info from Tennessee side.

From reading the Aggies' message boards, they don't have a scholly available.
Can you Confirm?

See the visit part is what I don't get. Either he didn't visit Tennessee and all the Maryland sources (Barton's family) are lying, or Knoxville media just wasn't informed about it (pretty likely). And if he didn't visit, there's been no mention really of Tennessee, so why would he now all of a sudden include them on his list?

Idk, the A&M seems random, but he's been very quiet through the whole process.

Here is the context I posted earlier. Hubbs does a segment every Wednesday on The Zone here in Nashville. Howard asked him where do we stand with the Barton kid.

He said he has a connection to the coach at A&M that will be hard to overcome. I assume he played for that coach before. He was asked this on The Zone this morning by Mark Howard, it caught Mark offguard as well.

Like I said, Hubbs said it so matter of factly that it caught Howard off guard.

It just surprises me that while VQ (Lewis or Hubbs) have had ZERO information on Barton, all of a sudden he's the ONLY person in American that seems to know where Barton is going.

Yep, I found it strange as well. I literally said "what" out loud in my car. Hubbs said it with such assuredness. You can probably go on thier website and listen to the interview.

I know it's Hubbs, but I've got some doubts about this one. If its Texas A&M then ill give him props, just surprised like I said that they've been in the dark this whole time and now have the scoop on where he's headed.

And you think someone would have said something before this morning in an interview on a Nashville station.
