Tennessee to pursue Antonio Barton

This guy is solid and consistent. He won't have the feast that Golden occasionally had, but he also won't have the famine either. Just solid, good play. That's what we need too. We have scoring elsewhere.

So upgrade or downgrade from Trade? Should Zo have went after Mathieu?

Mathieu is a much better facilitator than Barton, if UT just needs someone to bring the ball up the court then Barton should suffice. He's not going to take guys off the dribble, he's more of a spot up shooter ( more like a BJ Armstrong).

Did Mathieu sign or just commit? For the life of me I can't understand why Cuonzo never pushed for Mathieu.

I agree there was little chance before this fiasco. However, his reasoning for leaving Memphis was PT, where he was getting almost 20mpg. He's looking for a place that offers immediate PT, and probably the most of it...of all the schools on his list Tennessee has to be the easiest path to becoming a starting PG and getting 30mpg.

let's hope

So you're saying he's not a PG?

Barton is a better PG than Golden. Quicker and a better defender. He is not as good of a penetrator and a more limited offensive game around the basket. He is solid from 3. This team doesn't need a Golden at PG.

Scooter McFadden left Memphis to play at U.T., so maybe a Memphis player will leave again for U.T.

Just hoping!!!!!!

True story, I used to sit beside Scooters grandfather at most home game during the Buzz era. He was an awesome guy, and every time McFadden scored he'd always yell,"Scooter!" He came from absolutely nothing so it was cool to see him do so well at UT.

hopefully he signs because his experience would be very helpful. A big vacancy just opened up on the Hill and it needs as much competition as possible.

as long as he can dribble the ball up and down the court ,I would be happy with Barton .Because he can throw it in to Stokes OR Maymon and then Barton, Hubbs and Mcrae can watch them score or shoot wide open threes on the kick out from down low. In my opinion this would be the best shooting team at Tennessee since j smith and LOFTEN.I also think adding Barton to this team would make it atleast a sweet sixteen team. We all know what we have with Stokes ,Maymon and Jordy with additions of Hubbs and Barton UT would get two athletic quick handed players that can shoot . It is a no brainer to go after Barton A SPEEDY DEFENDER WHO CAN SHOOT GET HIM COACH. this is almost as big a need that UT has had since Martin became coach
