I hope all those freaking out a week ago and criticizing Barnes about portal recruiting come and take a lap

Never do - they just go silent till the next opportunity to bash him. The hate in some folks for Barnes is mind boggling at times.

Criticism was legit considering his past history. Do we really need to list off those players? I like Barnes, I support Barnes, but up until now, portal recruiting has been a weakness. As far as Ledlum and Knecht go, they look like really good pickups. Now they need to prove it. I really hope they do. But until they do, it's a little early to crow IMO.

It isn’t like the portal has been around for decades. It’s like a few years old. Kinda hard to form conclusions based on such a small sample size and project future performance.

These two may end up better, but our history with mid major transfers isnt good. EJA and Key were beasts at their old schools and how did they turn out?

Could also make the argument, based on the stats BTO passed along from Basilio the other day, that the portal doesn’t really matter as much as we pretend it does. 60 transfers into the SEC last year and 11 scored in double figures if I remember correctly. It’s a fun thing to follow during the dull postseason but it’s largely average to mediocre players shuffling around.

If they show up and are able to actually play at this level then ill eat my crow, but Key, Daniel, Anisoke..... our history with mid major transfers isnt good.

i see what you’re saying, but knecht was targeted by a lot of high majors. his game translates very well to p5. has the size and skill level to succeed.
