Tennessee Transfer Portal Targets

Didn't say they'd be an improvement, but we have to be able to secure a decent replacement from the portal. Can't wait forever.
This goes along with my question.. does TN have to wait for a slot before any player decides to play here? Hypothetically let’s say 50 transfers all want to come to TN. Who actually has the leverage? If TN shows “interest or reaching out” does that mean we already offered?

Reaching out and offering are two different things, I believe.

Example: I saw a tweet saying “teams who have reached out for so and so”

The same person tweeted like 8hrs later and said “these teams have offered so and so” (was the same portal player)

Not sure if this really matters, but does anyone know what current transfer portal players TN has offered in the past? I wonder how many kids commit to a school they had interest before.

I think we all dream of Barnes pushing tempo and Phillips first out on the break— dunking from the FT line. Haven’t seen any trend on that yet though.
Crazy to have such an athletic roster and not use it on both ends of the floor. Why limit the advantage to defense only?

UT can simply decide to move on from a senior. They don't have to accept them back. For that matter, they can tell any kid on the roster to move along and use those spots for a portal player. Of course, you do that and you're not going to endear yourself to your current roster and you certainly will pay a price on the recruiting trail. Barnes would never do that. He ain't no pimp like that curmudgeon CAVPUT.

I wouldn't be shocked if Ryan Nembhard followed his brother to Gonzaga. He had worked out with the team while his brother played there in the summer.

That’s what got me stuck on Knecht being a take regardless of Santi decision, would suggest maybe that was a possibility…then again looking to add another true 5 (KY transfer) to 3 already on the roster probably should’ve been my sign that wasn’t happening.
That actually (for me) signals that we 'might' need to bring someone in ... if a player is looking at options elsewhere .... and decides to yank the cord.

I think Barnes would like the faster pace, but he was missing a piece this past year ... so he never put it in.
I'm beginning to wonder if he cares about offense at all as long as his kids play defense like their hair is on fire. I'm fairly certain he's defense first, last, always.

Was snooping around on Memphis board because Mills is visiting today and found this interesting little bit of info

“Florida State University Red Shirt Junior Caleb Mills will be visiting Memphis Thursday. The 6-foot-5 guard averaged 13 points per game in the ACC. Mills originally signed with Houston out of High School. This will be his third school so he comes with experience and a scoring capabilities to help in the backcourt.

Mills just recently visited the University of Tennessee and has plenty of options to choose from schools such as Clemson, Georgia, Gonzaga, NC State, Pitt, Vanderbilt and Xavier are in the mix”

That would make sense, come north up I-75, visit UT then go west on I-40 to Memphis, if he is coming from Tallahassee

I am afraid we are going to miss out on the guys we want in the portal.

However, I’m sure the fans’ “wish list” is different than Coach Barnes & Co.
