I know WK hasn’t played much this season but would seem like next years roster would really open up for him, unless they happen to rerturn their front court
Sounds a lot like how Cal has handled Dontaie Allen, and UK fans are pissed over it. Of course, Allen is an instate kid, too, which further fans the flames in that situation.A lot of UNC fans feel he should’ve been playing much more, they’ve haven’t been happy with Roy about that...he led them to a win the other night and then hardly played the next game.
Basillio was talking about him a few weeks ago. Said he is really good on offense but doesnt play defense how the staff wants. Also showed up on campus out of shape. Said the staff's plan was to see how committed he is this summer, could be another Burns situation.
You mention 1 part of the OP’s post but ignore the other...he wasn’t not playing JUST because of his defensive issues. If true, and there are plenty of reasons to believe Basilio doesn't have a clue, but IF true this just bothers me. I understand there are certain expectations Barnes has for the defense. But, our defense has been less than stellar in several SEC games lately AND we have struggled to score. If Walker is "really good" on offense, he should have been playing. We have few reliable scoring threats on this team. I would trade lackluster defense if said player made up for it on the offensive end of the court.
For this reason, I believe the lack of Walker has to be for reasons not related to basketball. Its Burns 2.0 which is very sad. I'm trying to imagine just how good this team would be if Burns and Walker were on this roster and getting consistent playing time over ORN and an injured Fulky.
Just because fans think someone should be playing doesn't mean that someone should be playing. In fact, if a player isn't playing it's likely for good reasonsA lot of UNC fans feel he should’ve been playing much more, they’ve haven’t been happy with Roy about that...he led them to a win the other night and then hardly played the next game.
I wonder the same, but none of us know all the circumstances involved. As a fan, I want to say “give him a chance, Rick.” However, I realize I’m not privy to everything the coaches are exposed to. So, I have to trust Rick.If true, and there are plenty of reasons to believe Basilio doesn't have a clue, but IF true this just bothers me. I think each scenario like that is unique. Most often, a player who isn’t playing isn’t playing for good reason, as you said. Other times, there are potentially underlying agendas that a coach feels have to prevail in order to keep up appearances.Just because fans think someone should be playing doesn't mean that someone should be playing.
