I’m curious if Tennessee would take both Phillips & Murray, would be quite the additions, but I would be more than happy with either.

Also of note, hearing Tennessee and Tyreke Key have been in communication but whether that’s scholarship or walk-on idk, wouldn’t think they’d go scholarship there but who knows.

Well, if both Powell and BHH leave in addition to Chandler, we could take Phillips, Murray, and one additional player. I hope that’s not the case though. I’d hate to have another complete roster makeover.

Shooting concerns me a little on the surface of next years team, Chandler quietly turned into a 38% 3pt shooter…Murray was 34% last year and Phillips isn’t known as a strong perimeter shooter.

Right, I was just playing % in that if both are possibilities to watch that 1 of them leaving seems pretty plausible.

You think at 6’5” we’d play him at the 4? It’s not like he showed to be a great rebounder, I saw him as more of a 2 than a 4, 3 being his best.

Yep. I gotcha. I would like to add Phillips the most, and then keep everyone else. I think swapping Chandler for Phillips is pretty comparable talent-wise, and Edwards is an upgrade on VBJ at least based on ceiling/potential.

I would be concerned with ZZ being our primary ball handler and having no true experienced PG to back him up, but we don’t seem to be pursuing any other true PGs at this moment which tells me the staff is not concerned about that position at all, so maybe I shouldn’t be either.

Yup, that concerns me too…I don’t want Santi having to split time again there, and I feel like part of Zeigler’s success was also having Chandler out there too if that makes sense, I’m not sure about just him being the guy, but looks like we may find out. That’s why I mentioned if we could somehow get Key to walk on (pipe dream) it would be a perfect scenario.

Agreed. Santi and JJJ really found themselves this season by playing off-the-ball. I’d hate to see either of them have to split time at PG again.

It could also mean that maybe the staff is more confident in Edward’s ability to pick up where KC left off than we as fans think. Who knows. Ideally, Edwards coming in and being better than expected would be huge for this team, but I don’t want to bank on that. I’d hope we can find another ball-handler somewhere. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

Not sure what would give you that impression. It sounds pretty clear, just based on that above information, that it's a 3-team race and Tennessee is in a battle.

Could be this line “This one bears watching for sure but the Vols are in a battle.”

The “this one beats watching” is common VQ lingo for leaning/silent to Tennessee, but not a done deal. Now maybe that’s not how Rob meant it in this instance but that’s been a common used VQ phrase in the past.

They are still searching for a transfer to fill that Chandler role. I heard a name that isn't in the portal yet that would be the solution. All conference type player.

Ideally they want to add a big and a guard in the portal. Phillips is definitely a take. I don't know if that means they would still add 2 after Phillips or if its Phillips plus 1.

I don’t think the shooting would be that much of a drop off. I watched Murray a lil bit this past year, and he can spot up and hit some shots. Also he can really create off the dribble. After watching the all american game last night, Phillips outside shot looks much better than i thought. Can really score .
