Eric BossiAny updated scouting report of Clark has to start off by mentioning that he’s still in the process of getting to 100%. He tore his ACL last spring and managed to return to the floor by January. The speed with which he was able to recover and get himself back into playing shape is notable in that nobody is capable of doing that without an impressive work ethic and commitment to hard work.
Wow so they even let him sign before dropping him.My understanding is that since his injury, he has lost some explosiveness/athleticism and is not as highly regarded now as he was when he originally committed to UK.
I think he is now considered a multi year college player and not a likely one and done. I hope he comes here and gives UK nightmares for years.
That team didn’t do anything of significance, but that’s different than saying Keon and Jaden weren’t good
I mean you said "We've brought in 5 5*s under Barnes and how many were good off the bat?" and when I said at least three (Kennedy, Keon, Jaden, not BHH, JJJ debatable) you took issue with it. I figured "off the bat" meant their freshman years, not literally their first couple of games. When we play Arkansas those freshman will not be in their first couple of gamesI never said they weren't good.
Neither made much of an impact till conference play. They had some highlights during the season but nothing that really translated to big time wins outside of maybe Kansas, who weren't exactly elite last year. Hell, Corey Walker didn't even play and is at USF. Don't let recruiting rankings scare you.
Chandler’s contribution this season was equal to, or more important than any other player. He was the closest thing we had to a player who could score at will, in addition to playing the game like a senior pg.I posted this in the Cason Wallace thread but thought it was appropriate since folks are arguing about 5 star players and Arkansas going towards Kentucky's model.
Big Blue Nation is in a melt down because Cason Wallace said his goals at Kentucky are "to go as far into our college season and get out of there as soon as possible." Maybe he is just being honest but this is the reason I have always advocated for lower ranked players who will stay around at least a few years and become a part of the program. I am not going to bad mouth Chandler or Keon or Springer but compare their contributions to JJJ or Vescovi and decide who you would rather have.
Chandler played well, especially down the stretch but compare his one year contribution to someone here for 3 or 4 years like JJJ or best case scenario Grant Williams. I want players here for more than one year. Maybe we take the occasional likely one and done prospect but I predict ZZZ will have a lot bigger impact over his career than Chandler will.Chandler’s contribution this season was equal to, or more important than any other player. If your premise is that a player who plays three years can contribute more than a player who plays one, I applaud your math skills. Otherwise, I can’t find any reason to make an unforced choice. We’re going to have a blend of younger players and players who stay 3, 4 or 5 years. Teams with a high experience quotient do better in March than a box of freshmen, but most great teams have young stars and veterans. It’s great to be witnessing an era when we attract both. I remember the recent past when we leapt for joy when we had one good player on the court. I’ll take kids like Chandler as often as we can get them. He is a top three PG of all time for the Vols.
