Well that's just stupid and negativity.
He's actually a better NBA prospect than he is a college one. Why? NBA is more spread out, looser defensively, less zone, and the court is larger as well. He'd have more space to get his shot up and he'd have to burn less energy on defense.
Disagree 100%. Lofton could actually get to the rim his junior and senior years and was a crafty defender. Santi has better on ball defense. Lofton could create his own shot and had a quick release. Santi cannot and his release is a lot slower.
This reads like it was written by someone who doesn't watch the NBA.
I think he’s going to have to be able to handle the ball to be able to make it. But that was such a roller coaster his first 2 years.
I've been watching...not every NBA guard has to be Ja Morant or Trae Young to be in the league.
Ya'll acting like Santi can't be a 8-10 guy on the team that gets 6-8 minutes to spark a quick run with a few catch and shoot 3s while also being able to defend.
I mean hell if Garrison Mathews can find minutes on a team Santi can as well.
I’m aware but he really struggled bringing the ball up when facing pressure defense so I don’t see that being an option at the next level. It was really painful to watch that 2020 team try to get the ball past half court when they got pressed. It wasn’t just Vescovi. JJJ/Springer too.But he did play PG in those first 2 years...like people only seem to focus on the stuff he did bad for the brief time he did it.
Well one thing VN is consistent with is horrible NBA takes.
Santi isn't an NBA prospect. Cmon man.
He is listed at 6'3" 191 lbs per UT and he isn't a PG. So now you have an undersized 2 guard that isn't athletic or explosive who struggles with length and athletic perimeter players at the collegiate level. He would struggle to score at the NBA level. On defense, he would get picked on every possession. What position would he guard? He isn't quick enough to stay in front of most NBA PGs and he isn't big enough or explosive enough to guard other positions on the perimeter. He is a tweener in every sense of the word when it comes to the NBA.
Also Garrison Matthews is 6'5 and 215lbs. That's a pretty significant size difference.
The NBA is just a whole different level of talent, athleticism, and skill that Santi just doesn't have. No knock on Santi, but he isn't an NBA player.
See this is one of those examples of someone changing what was said.
I said he was a better prospect for the NBA not that he would perform better in the NBA. But if guys like Grayson Allen and Luke Kennard can not only play in the NBA but get quality minutes it seems pretty stupid to say Santi will NEVER play in the NBA. He might never get drafted, but to say he'll NEVER play in the NBA is crazy to me. He made first team All-SEC this year and has improved his game every season he's been here.
so the NBA doesn't have a different sized paint and deeper 3 pt line?
??? Edwards is twice the athlete and has actual point guard skills. Was twice the college player and I’m not even sure if he’s even in the league anymore lmao. There's a difference in what you're saying and saying he'll never be in the NBA though.
Hell I'm not even saying he's going to be in the NBA, I'm just saying it's still possible. He has better size than Carsen Edwards and he not only made the league but was drafted early in the 2nd round.
I never said Vescovi would never play in the NBA.
A deeper 3 pt line = bigger court?
There is 0 comparison with Grayson Allen other than the color of their skin. Allen was also the best player on a championship team as a freshman.
Kennard and Vescovi aren’t in the same league in terms of on ball skills.
??? Edwards is twice the athlete and has actual point guard skills. Was twice the college player and I’m not even sure if he’s even in the league anymore lmao.
There's a difference in what you're saying and saying he'll never be in the NBA though.

Anybody that follows CBB knows by tourney time Grayson Allen was the engine of that Duke team. He had 16 in the championship game.Allen (college)
6'4" 195lbs
Career: 14.1 ppg, 3.2 rbpg, 3.0 apg, 1.0 spg, 0.1 bpg
43% FG, 38% 3PT, 83.4% FT
Santi
6'3" 191lbs
Career: 11.2 ppg, 3.9 rbpg, 3.3 apg, 1.4 spg, 0.1 bpg
39.7%FG, 38.6% 3PT, 80.3% FT
And the biggest difference in their production is that Santi averages less shots a game 8.7 FGA vs 9.9 FGA and far less FTA with 2.4 vs 4.2. That's really the difference
Allen was on one championship team "best player on the team" didn't even play 10mpg on that squad and had 0 starts.
And? You say that as if the only point I was making (Santi having better size, which he does) isn't true.
Damn man you're so bad about changing what is being said to what you want to argue against.
Santi is similar to Allen, both in college stats and size. Santi is bigger than Edwards. All I've said. That's not saying he's as athletic as either.
That’s fair. Again, I think people are misinterpreting the point being made by MoCo and a few others. I’ve seen a lot of people say that Santi is not an NBA prospect, won’t make it in the NBA, doesn’t have a chance, etc.
I, personally, just think this is a load of hogwash. He very well may not ever make a roster, but I think his skill set is versatile enough that he has a chance. Also, it’s not like Santi is done improving. The difference in his game from his freshmen year to this past season are night and day. If Grant Williams can become one of the most prolific 3-point shooters in the NBA in the 2021-2022 season, then I have confidence Santi can expand his game to fit today’s NBA as well.
