Tennessee Vols Basketball Recruiting

Hunter is a much better scoring threat that we need tbh
Yeah, in comparing the two, I'm much more concerned with our scoring ability on the perimeter than our passing. ZZ and SV are both great distributors, so I'm fine with the 3rd guard being more of a scorer than an elite passer.

And I think Hunter has a much higher ceiling. Collins may have been the safer play, next year, but if you get two years out of Hunter, that's a trade I'd make.

I’m for whatever gets Vescovi the most open looks.

Pretty sure it’s in Spyre’s best interest to give out as much money as possible.

In years past, this transfer portal/signing class situation would be all on Barnes and his staff.

Now though, with NIL, Spyre needs to put up or shut up. If a player is interested in Tennessee and the staff wants him on the roster, Spyre is culpable in bringing them here. Not willing/able to pay enough as Tennessee's marquee "marketing group?" That's on them. Ready to ink a deal but Barnes for some reason doesn't want to pay a guy towards whom he's already expressed interest? I'm incredulous as to the likelihood of that situation but, if for some reason Barnes is apprehensive about NIL and/or thinks that some players are being too greedy, someone working at Spyre needs to be working on changing Barnes' mind and phoning up Danny White if all else fails.

Also admiringly haven’t watched every Iowa State game, but we were talking about that dog/killer guy earlier and Hunter was certainly that against LSU in the NCAAT.

And yet there’s a 7 figure deal on the table for Edwards 🤔

Edwards money was before or after Yuri’s offer 😇

Look, Spyre wouldn’t pay more. Wouldn’t raise the number. And it’s why he isn’t here.

Objectivefully, you get it, Yuri just got told no NBA upside therefore Spyre caps it’s potential ROI with fanbase

All that to say this, don’t say the AD dropped the ball. Can say for a fact that’s the rub.

This is ALL Spyre.

Love hearing that’s available for Edwards. Just wondering why we wouldn’t match the Phillips offer though if Spyre has the available resources and Barnes is fine with tossing Edwards 7 figures in this case?
Spyre met the terms of the USC offer Phillips had received. At that point, they thought he would sign as he had said he wanted to be here if we could meet his requirements. I’ve heard we are not going to get into a bidding war if he tries to create that with Auburn. If he wants to come, and take the deal, the door is open. He spoke to someone on our staff today.

Phillips, Hunter, Key. Now thats a good portal group.

This is Spyre side story. Spyre did not want to match bid. End of story.

Want to know the cost of $8M for a QB?

Here it is folks.

If Nico is anywhere close to a generational QB, $8M will be a bargain. What was the economic impact of Peyton playing at UT? Hundreds of millions of dollars in donations, publicity, etc? And counting?
