Tennessee Vols Basketball Recruiting

I think the kid from SDSU will end up at Duke. The guy may have been a bigger get than Murray, but I doubt we’ll be in the mix.
Duke is practically having a complete roster flip with the freshman class they have coming in and if they add this transfer too. Modern day game. I agree with those who think Barnes won't do this much longer. It seems like it goes too much against his coaching and team philosophies.

You’re basically serving as the head coach and the front office in a much more volatile personnel environment than it used to be. Big time CFB is usually better resourced than CBB, so I wouldn’t blame any CBB who didn’t think the game in its current state was for them. It’s a ton to manage.

If I’m Barnes and Co I’m throwing everything at Hunter this weekend. Give him what he wants, because this is one of the best PG prospects out there. Not a great shooter, but good dribble drive guy and a good passer. An off-season with Barnes may improve that 3pt shot. Hunter-Ziegler-Vescovi would be a good trio of guards.

True, but I think it falls over pretty quickly after Santi, JJJ, Zig and (fingers crossed) Aidoo.
I think Nkahmoua is better than he gets credit for, I also think Key will be pretty solid as well…again a solid roster, but can absolutely be improved, nobody is saying start the year with 9 on scholarship.

they really do need to throw everything and give it their best shot with Hunter this weekend. He can get to the basket at will & create very good.

I really hate talking about NIL but if we can’t muster up enough to secure a couple guys when we have the most returning minutes in the sec. Imagine what it would be like trying to rebuild an entire roster. I guess we ought to be thankful that we’re not in that situation this year and can figure something’s out in the meantime

Tend to agree. Would throw a couple hundred to Spyre to earmark for Hunter if it’s possible.

I would try my best to get him to commit this weekend with that list of teams he’s put out. It’s just weird we’re just now hearing about being in his top 6, and then immediately after Collins announces he’s going back to SLU he’s visiting this weekend. That has to mean something, or maybe I’m just trying to read between the lines too much lol

Looks like it’s here to stay. But this “modern day game” may run off a lot of long time fans so they need to be careful. At least for me, my interest is waning. Hard to pull for a team when you don’t know who’s going to be on the team from year to year and you have to go buy some mercenaries. I said for years that I didn’t know how KY fans could put up with the perennial parade of one and dones in basketball and this is about as bad.

Hunter would be fantastic. Getting him on campus is obviously a positive, BUT I’m not going to hold my breath. We’re up against programs that prioritize basketball. Highly doubtful we weren’t willing to pay Collins, but we will pay Hunter.

I will forget all about Collins if we land Hunter. Kid looks like the real deal. Big 12 Freshman of the Year, very good defender, and not a bad shot creator from what little highlights I've seen. AND a good distributor of the basketball.

Could be a better 3pt shooter, but that's where Santi, ZZ, and others come in.

So what you are saying is Coach Pat Summitt and BG Robert Neyland were shady characters. Ok...gotcha.
Pat was not shady, but she did what she had to do. People forget, or aren’t as old as me to remember, but Pat’s first 4-5 All Americans were transfers. A lot of coaches accused her of poaching back in the day. Like I say, not shady, but a fierce competitor. I don’t know about the General, but a guy who fought in WW2 probably had the ability to do what he needed to do, when he needed to do it. Plus rules were a lot more loosy, goosey back then.

I thought Nkahmoua could have been borderline 2nd-team if he played the whole season but an achilles injury worries me

I wish I had your confidence that we actually spend money. We reportedly wouldn’t meet Phillip’s demands according to BTO and we also got potentially outbid by SLU for Collins.

I will be shocked if he doesn’t end up at Kansas with Bill $elf.
We need to neg recruit the hell out of those NCAA violations Self is looking at.

Tyrese Hunter would be CRB pulling a penguin out of his ass. Land him, and CRB is David freakin' Copperfield.
Rumor was that he was headed to UNC. Not sure what has changed that would keep that from happening. Seems like a lot of smoke these days
