Tennessee vs. Alabama will

I think that Les Miles has a legitimate gripe. And I also think that since the league has expanded that the traditional rivalries are out of date. The teams in the East Division are not as competitive as the West. .

I respectfully disagree. UT/Bama IS college football. It is what it is suppose to be. Everyone watches that game regardless of record. This push for 9 games was about more money/TV for a SEC game. This would have hurt everyone's chance at making a playoff. The SEC is at least 2x harder than any other conference and they want us to eat our own even more? There is no way UT/Bama and Ga/AU were going away.

PS, why is Miles crying? Florida sux

the east was always dog meat.

it was florida, tennessee and turds in the 90's.

basically, vandy and kentucky are consistently weaker than any of the other teams.

in addition, missouri and south carolina have not been much to write home about either, historically speaking

Yet it was still the East normally winning the championship, no? I'm surprised a gator would downplay your first championships.

As far as USC, I never thought I would see the day they win 10 games 3 years in a row, is that correct? Who does Fla hire? Stoops?

let me put it this way.

the acc sucks. even though the acc sucks, fsu is legitimately a very good football team.

the sec east sucked in the 90's. florida and tennessee were really good football teams.

The West was pretty bad in the 90's. Bama won the West more times than any one else and they were up and down year to year. LSU was a joke until Saban. Auburn was fairly consistent but not a major threat to any real contenders. Ark and Miss St had a good year here and there and poor Oe Miss is still the only team in the West not to make the SECCG (not counting TAM).

Anyone crying about who they have to play every year need to put their big boy pants on.. To be the best you have to play the best, we have never been scared to play anyone.. that is why UT consistently has one of the toughest OOC schedules every year.

We would still be winning those games if not for the dumbest firing in college football history...

Thought this thread was going to discuss estate planning (wills) in TN vs Bama but then I realized there is nothing to pass down to future generations in Bama.

Things are cyclical in all aspects of life and this rivalry will pay dividends for us again soon as it did in the 90's. I, for one, am glad this rivalry will continue. GBO.

The way Butch is recruiting, we might just see Alabama two times a year. Once in the regular season. And then again in the SEC championship. Pay back is coming people.
When you think back to conference merge of '92. They put Tennessee and Alabama in different divisions, everyone thought that would be the championship game every year. What's funny is that it has never happened in over 20 years.

Now Texas A&M should be scheduling Texas every year and Missouri should schedule Kansas every year as well. Those were really big rivalries that died in the conference realignment. They should come back! Glad the SEC kept their really big games every year.

A&M and Missouri both wanted to continue those rivalries; unfortunately both Texas and Kansas pretty much spit on the respectively extended hands on such matters.

I'm sorry but this is ridiculous. I am all for the rivalry...but times change. It's not fair that some teams are paired against powers and others against weak sisters of the poor (you're welcome Ole Miss). Schedules should rotate so you play everyone over a set number of years. I am not trying to dodge anyone, but it needs to be a level playing field.

Powers are yearly matched up against powers; weak sisters are yearly paired up against weak sisters.

On another note - if LSU gets what it wants - it's not more much fair for a power school like LSU to have years where they just have to play Kentucky and Vanderbilt either.

You want more of the rotation, then they need to switch to 9 games a season like every other conference.

Since they have made the decision to keep the rivalries then they should at least go to a nine game conference schedule so we can at least get to see some of the teams from the West. Right now it will be years before we will see aTm in Knoxville.

Les doesn't want 9 games though. He just wants LSU to have 8 game years where they only have to play UK and Vandy.

Neither have any of the permanent cross rivals, actually.

Tired of hearing the cliches like " to be the best " etc. How did the pounding we took at Oregon help us. Getting to a bowl game would have.

Then find a way to put Tennessee and Alabama back in the same division or kick out the 4 new teams and go back to a 10 team conference and play round robin.

They only reason we're having this discussion is because LSU fans got uppity and think the rest of the conference is out to get them.

I know they did, but College Football is about rivalries and traditions not $$$, which team is better or which conference is better. The fact that those ADs thought it would be good cutting these games is what's wrong with CFB now. They were 2 of the longest rivalries in CFB and should never even been considered. Think it's time for those 2 (Texas and Kansas) to suck it up and put them back on their schedule. I also have agree with Gator on this Florida should get Auburn every year and UGA should get LSU. They should also not be allowed to schedule FCS teams or if they do they should not count for their 6 wins to get to a bowl game.

Or they could realign the conference and put Missouri in the West and Alabama or Auburn in the East.
