Tennessee vs Georgia

If our O-line can open some holes (it has been proven that we now have the running backs that can carry it all the way) and our defense can put some hard hits on their quarterbacks, which I believe will happen, the score will not be close. I'm also convinced that we play better on the road.

UGA is looking nasty right now if they don't really get it together we will win by 14 or more.

Coker and Ainge should have career days in this one based on what I seen from GA tonight.

VOLS - 35
Dawgs - 17

UGA won't have any problems getting up for the TN game, nor will they have any trouble focusing on getting better after these past two weeks. now will they get better? don't know. based on what i've seen, i like our chances....but at UGA, knowing Richt's record against us....i can't simply chock this up as a W for us just yet.

Big play ability for us will be big, as UGA has not played a team that can get down feild in a hurry. I was glad to see that Ole Miss was able to run the ball, as well as Col.

Defensively, i haven't seen anything from UGA that just scares me. i think the key is to make them throw....make them one dimensional. If Col or Ole Miss had any offensive weapons, either of them could have won.

I don't know, too early to predict right now. like i've said in another thread...i'm optimistic about our chances, but not overly optimistic....

Good way to put it, jakez. I'm definitely not viewing this as a sure win... but I'm maybe more optimistic than usual. :)

No doubt it'll be a tough game.

I think we can glean more from these last 2 games (Marshall & Memphis) than some would think. Yes, they were inferior opponents, everyone knew it & everyone assumed we'd beat them both handily. But here's the difference: we actually DID! This is another way UT is gelling now where we weren't before...we're spanking the teams we're supposed to spank...Air Force notwithstanding, which I think is close to excusable for reasons we all know. We seem very fluid, very business-like.
Personally, after watching last nite's game (UGA/Ole Miss), I think Georgia is living on borrowed time in the top ten. If ever there was a case for a team dropping in the polls after a victory, it was these last 2 games for UGA. But you know what? I'm glad they're still undefeated, and it won't bother me if they're still in the top 10 next Saturday 'cuz it would be pretty sweet for the Vols to be the ones who send them reeling. We'll find out next Sat. how much improvement we've REALLY made & no SEC matchup is a sure thing for anyone. But UGA is the most overachieving team in the top 20 right now for sure IMO, and I really like our chances.:good!:

If our denfense can stop the UGA run, then I think we will win this one.
I'm not too worried about their passing game, espically after the Miss preformance. They keep shooting themselves in the feet. Receivers drop too many, and Stafford hasn't learned the meaning of "touch" or "finess"- he just rockets everything he throws. Our secondary shouldn't have too many problems.

Offensively, we are a well oiled machine, and GA will need to toss and awfully large wench in our gears to stop us.

Bottomline: we will simply find the endzone more than the Dawgs.

If we come out ready to play, I think we will win, but if we don't we will be in a for a miserable day.

I expect Ainge to struggle a little just because UGA will most likely get some pressure on him but if our line can give him some time, I think he'll have a good day against the Georgia D.

Crowd noise is another thing to be a little concerned about. The Vols didn't get a healthy dose of that yesterday.

My official prediction is UT by 15.
You're not trying to set up false expectations around here are you? The only time Fulmer beat Richt it was a close one. I can remember a few times in the 90s that it looked to all the world like UT should beat UF but CPF just couldn't get that Spurrier monkey off his back. IMO Richt has become that monkey and I'm not going to presume anything against the Dawgs until I see no time on the clock and a higher number on the Vols' side of the scoreboard.

My official prediction is UT by 15.
I earlier posted 2-3 touchdown win by UT.Normally I am tentative about any games but this year I'm going with the play of both teams so far and I just see us playing all out, leaving nothing on the field.I know I give you a hard time about the gators and all LG, but really, I think they should be #2 as I think Chris Folwer stated that is where he is going to vote them to be.All of a sudden Chris Fowler becomes the advocate for the SEC.One more thing, I hate the fact the Big 10 doesn't have a playoff game yet.I will hate it if an SEC team goes undefeated into the SEC Championship game and loses and they get picked over to play in the National Championship game, especially by a league with no play off system.

UF has the advantage of playing their final regular season game against Fl.St. Even if the Noles are down it is pretty much guranteed to be a nationaly broadcast game, which means that the Gators would get two shots (SECCSG being the other) to make an impression with the pollsters. I don't know what it is but it seems like the media have grown bored with USC. The ACC and Big12 are pretty much out of it already and there will not be much to report on from the Big East until the L'ville-W.Va. showdown.

Well, the key to beating Georgia is not giving them anything for free. No fumbles, interceptions, personnel fouls, or long special teams plays. Georgia has looked very bad the last few weeks mainly because of the two freshman at QB. That should be in the past as Joe Terashitski(however you spell it) is back this week and should play. Georgia hasn't seen a defense 1/3 as good as Tennessee as of yet this season. Tennessee has to score early and play all 4 quarters to win. We have to put points on the board every chance we get. No trying to kill clock with 25 minutes left in the game with a 7 point advantage. Our offensive line needs to protect well and give ainge time to pick Georgia apart and most of all we need a huge day from our backs. We need the ground game to open up.

He's a negavol, he can't say that Tennessee did anything right, it's not in his moral fabric.

Yeah, being a Tennessee fan is a morality issue. That's genius. I guess we better go ahead and impeach President Bush on account of the fact that I've never seen him wearing UT orange. I just fail to see how you can look at that Air Force game that we barely won and use that as some sort of evidence that we will beat a team like Georgia. Sure Air Force is probably better than most would imagine and Georgia is down this year. I understand that. Nevertheless, the two teams just are not comparable. Beating Air Force by one is nothing to brag about. Barely losing to a top ten team like Florida is more of an accomplishment. I was actually much more impressed with how they played against Florida than against Air Force. It was the first time they had played a superior team, but they didn't fold and get hammered like last year's team would have. They put forth a good effort, came out to take care of business, but fell just short of getting the job done. I'd say our near win at Florida is a stronger indicator of victory in Athens than our close call against Air Force. However, you have questioned the playcalling in the Florida game over and over. Funny how you are so supportive until the Vols falter. Yet, I am the negavol. Your logic is dizzying.

FWIW, Sagarin's Strength of Schedule has UT at #21, UGa at #112.

I'm surprised UT isn't higher. We've already played two top ten teams and we'll be playing two more before the season ends. If we make it to the SECCG, we'll be playing another one. I can't think of any teams outside the SEC who can top that.
